Went to argassi June 2014 was lovely.am thinking of going to laganas this year with my 9 yr old granddaughter. Apart from day trips do you think it would be suitable bearing in mind the chosen hotel is about 20 mins away from the main strip.hotel provide free transport for this.hoping there are shops and tavernas a bit closer.
My family and I are thinking about spending one week to ten days in Arillas in late June. None of us have ever been to Greece, and we are just seeking a beautiful place to relax, play with our kids (ages 8 and 5), be on the beach, go to some nice restaurants, and also discover the area around Arillas. Could you tell me what you thought of your vacation in Arillas? Could you also tell me what kinds of things one can do in and around Arillas? Are there nice places or villages to visit nearby? I would be grateful for any and all advice and thoughts. How does Arillas compare to the rest of Corfu and vacationing on other Greek islands? Thanks for your help!
Hi, we, a middle aged couple are planning to visit Athens on our way to Santorini and Mykonos. We arrive one afternoon, have complete day two in Athens and will depart for Santorini on day three. On our return again we arrive one afternoon and will have a complete evening to spend in Athens. Could anyone suggest an itinerary for our time. Specifically, I would like to know:-
1. Is it worth taking an evening / night tour of Athens?.
2. Can we take a walking tour in the Day.
3. Is there a free walking tour. If yes the timings please.
3. If we have done the above, what would be left to do on the second evening.
4. Suggestions for good tours are welcome. We would not wish to have exclusive tours but would like to join other groups.
Thanks in advance.
I'm interested in buying a prepaid Greek SIM card upon my arrival at Heraklion airport. Can I buy one there? Also, could you point me to websites of Greek cellphone companies that offer such cards, so I'd be able to compare their rates ahead of time?
Hi, We intend taking a Blue Star Ferry (Delos) from Athens to Santorini. One finds that there are Air Seats Lounges serial 1 to 5. Before we book our seats could anyone guide on:-
1. The difference between lounges 1 to 5.
2. Which have the best view while seated?
3. Which lounge would offer the fastest exit? Does it matter in terms of time spent in exit?
4. Needless to say we do plan to go on the deck while approaching Santorini. For this activity is there anything to chose between the lounges?
Hi We are planning a holiday to crete beginning September, would like to know which part of the island is best to visit that time of year. Also do you have any hotel reccomendations to stay with 11 month old baby.We are looking for a spacious place near the beach, good tradtional greek cuisine close by , nice beaches not too far. Hi, I know the question has been put a number of times on the forum. Pardon me for repeating; just want to be doubly sure so that there is no hitch in our travel schedule. My wife and I are senior citizens and are travelling between Mykonos and Santorini in end Sep 2015. After reading suggestion so aptly given by fellow VT members, we have planned to take the Sea Jets ferry from Mykonos to Naxos and by Blue Star from Naxos to Santorini. We would obviously want to be fully confident on the travel schedule. Is there ANY reason why we should book in advance or can we be 100% sure of getting ticket from both ports prior to departure (other unforeseen situations of weather / ferry cancellations are of course understood).
Is there a bus that goes past this the Lakitira Suites hotel from the airport?
The hotel appears to be 4km west of Kardamena, not at Kardamena as shown by Google maps. This is a link of the possible routes. It may just be easier to hire a taxi, but I was hoping to master the public transport.
Firstly - LOVE this VT Forum - I always receive so much useful info...
My husband and I plan to island hop through the Cyclades, Greek Islands from late July - mid-September 2015.
We don't like to plan or book ahead, preferring to just take each day as it comes.
1) is it possible to just turn up to an island off the ferry and get accommodation at that time of year?
2) are there any recommendations of "must see" islands, other than Santorini and Mykonos?
Thanks in advance
I will be in athens at the beginning of May. My hotel is at Omonia square and I would like to know what it's like right now. I know that everybody says that it's really dangerous, but it's no option for me to avoid it at night time, because my plane lands around 8 pm. After all the reviews, I'm a bit scared to walk around with my suitcase. My hotel is only 20 meters from the subway station. Does that make it a bit safer? I won't have to walk around very long. And does anybody have any tips for me to "survive" my first night there?
Hi, we are wanting to take a 4 DAY CLASSICAL TOUR OF GREECE provided by G.O.Tours. Can any fellow VT member help with a review of the agency. If the review is not positive any other suggestions?
thanks in advance
We'll be in santorini for four nights in April. Since we dont want to be lugging our bags around with us we are planning to keep Santorini as a base and plan day trips to nearby islands. Can anybody tell me the places that should be on top of my list.(But i wouldnt want to spend more than 3hrs travelling one way). Also is there a çheck-in time for Ferries too (that would also be included in the total travel time)? Or do we arrive on time and just take our seats.. like in a bus..? I've never travelled in a boat of any kind.. what are the things that i should keep in mind?
A Biigggg THANK YOU to everyone who has taken the time and effort to answer all my earlier queries. Heres one more !! We'll be arriving in Athens around 06.00 on the 14th of April. However the place that we've booked for our stay doesnt allow us to check in before 13.00hrs. Can anybody suggest a safe place where we can stow our bags and roam around the city till then?
