If you look at Google Maps you can work out your best walking itinerary from the railway station. I would proceed up the tree lined Avenue Feucheres to the Arena and then continue on the other side of the Arena up Victor Hugo until Quai de la Fontaine then turn to the left side and you are at the Jardins et Quais de la Fontaine. Before you reach the turning make sure to visit - Maison Carree - one of the best preserved temples to be found anywhere in the territory of the former Roman Empire.
Allow around 30 minutes if not stopping to get from the railway station to the gardens. The Tour Magna is a few more minutes walk on the far side of the gardens.
4 or 5 hours will be good for exploring on foot.
