Nikko for new year's eve.. Any authentic restaurant to suggest?

by smarion Online Now Nov 3, 2012 at 6:14 AM

Ciao! My husband and I will spend new year's eve in Nikko. We would like to spend it in an authentic japanese restaurant, looking for great food, not looking for parties or fashionabe places. Something real, real japanese style and food. We fear tourist traps by looking at the usual websites... Any suggestion? Grazie, thanks! Mary

I'm not sure if you have a hotel or not yet, but it would be best to find a Ryokan that is open over the new year holidays. Nikko is pretty small, so I would assume a lot of the smaller restaurants would be closed for the holidays. The temples and shrines are probably open but I think it would be a hit or miss on restaurants and shops. Maybe someone else has better information to give you.
