I am the one who asked this question. All of the responses were helpful. I was asking to see if camera theft would be a major problem. Would normal procautions be enough? Thank you for your thoughtfulness!

Bon soir! My friend & I will be visiting Nice at the beginning of August for 4 nights & want to stay at a decent, but reasonably priced hotel with a pool, close to Promenades des Anglais, must have 2 beds! Any suggestions would be great! Merci! Carla :D
Should I bring a camera, or buy postcards?
I am trying to locate the name of an artist from which I purchased several small watercolor paintings from during October, 2012. It looks like her first name may be Sofi.
My husband, 2 sons (17 and 12), and I will be arriving into Nice from the United States at around 11:30 am near the end of July and staying in the French Riviera and Aix en Provence for 6 days before we head to the Italian Riviera. We would like suggestions on how to divide up the trip.
We would like to drive to Aix (inland route) and stop at some of the little towns along the way. We hear it is a beautiful drive, especially this time of year. On the way back to Nice, we also want to hit some of the smaller towns like Cassis. Of course, we will want to visit Antibes, Cannes, St. Tropez, St. Paul de Vence, Menton, Monaco, etc. We have been told that it is not smart to try to drive East on the Coast of Nice at this time of year due to traffic, so we were planning to take trains.
We think we will be too tired to drive when we arrive the first night. We had originally been planning to stay the first night in Nice, then drive to Aix for 2 nights, then back to Nice as our home base for 3 more nights.
Our second plan was to spend the first night in Antibes, the next 2 nights in Aix, and the remaining 3 nights in Nice.
Now that I started looking into accommodations, I remember the reason we usually rent apartments, so I am thinking maybe we should stay in Nice for 3 nights and then Aix for 3 nights or perhaps Nice for 4 nights and then Aix for 2 nights.
Because I have never been to any of these places, I was hoping that someone might have suggestions.
We like eating, shopping (unique items--not T-shirts and not brand name items), little towns, people watching, tourist attractions, art (but not so much museums), and eating (higher end). (Of course, if anyone has any "can't miss" experiences, we welcome those as well. I am just beginning my research.) We will likely go to the beach once or twice for an hour or two, but it is definitely not the focus of our trip.
Any recommendations on how to best divide up our time given your knowledge of the area--traffic, transportation, our interests, time of year, etc.?
Have got a big issue! Booked airfrance from Nice to Athens and saw this today!
Please note that the fare you have selected for this Air France flight does not include any checked baggage.
- Hand luggage: Max 12 Kg. Max 55x35x25 cm.
- Hold luggage: Not Included
No checked baggage!!! WHAT !!!
I have tried to contact them is there an email address?
Also what would checked baggage cost? Its cheaper to do it now right?
I'm thinking of staying in Nice for a week this summer. I've been to the French Riviera before and visited Cannes, Monaco, and Nice. I was wondering if there are other interesting spots to visit this time around as I don't want to revisit the same places again. I will have a car while there so that's not a problem. I love cute coastal cities with sandy beaches but also nice hills overlooking the sea.
All suggestions are very welcome!
Thanks in advance :-)
We're sailing from Barcelona, Spain this summer. The tours that Royal Caribbean offers are quite expensive. Are there independent tour operators at the port who are cheaper that cruise line tours and, if so, do they speak English?
Do you know if there are taxis outside Ville railway station?
can i get a bus from gare sncf to promenade des anglais?
We are coming via Annecy and Arles to Nice. We have booked one night in Marseilles to experience the city. Is it really so dangerous and should we go? We are from South Africa and quite used to crime. What is the easiest and cheapest way to get to Nice from Marseilles early July?
We are staying at Nice Riveria Hotel in 45 Rue Pastorelli, 06000 Nice, France
from the 15th to 20th of July.
We are going to do a day trip to Monaco and we were wondering what else we should plan on doing. We are from Australia and unsure if it would be worth hiring a car of we won't need one? We are an active 27 yr old couple.

My partner and I are traveling through-out June/ July all around europe from Australia. We are going to Paris, then through Toulouse to meet a friend I went to college with. Then going to Nice for 5 days, in which we will spend one day in Monaco.

Does anyone really know how long it takes to walk from the Hotel Mercure Promenade des Anglais to (a) the Massenet and (b) the court Saleya
Will be travelling to Nice for the first time, and on business. I don't plan on taking much/any cash if I can help it. Can i use a credit card in the bus ticket vending machines at the airport?
I am assuming I can I buy this ticket in either Paris of Avignon before I get to Nice - I have a 10 minute change (can get a later train if I have to) so don't have time to buy on the day, but have assumed things before and come unstuck!! I then have to get from Ventimiglia to Levanto I guess there is no other option but to buy that at Ventimiglia station - I have to get a regional ticket as pre-booking is not an option as any connection could be late. Any help would be great : )
I hav'nt travelled a French Train for a number of years but hope to do so this year.
I would love to have my cases still waiting for me when I arrive at my destination !
From those who have done this, can I ask if cases are safe, when out of sight or is a padlock and chain necessary.
Be assured that I would ask the same question if I had need to travel on a long distance English Train,
Thanks in advance
staying in Nice for 9 days in October and want to visit Venice for the day or an overnight. Any suggestions?
Is it worth paying for Breakfast at a good hotel such as Westminster or Mercure on the Prom des Anglais ie to save having to dress up and trawling the streets for cafe's.

We are a 26 yr old couple traveling to Europe and Nice is where we will be spending 4 nights - 5 days. We are looking at getting a car. Here is a list I have complied and would love any comments or advice. Any thoughts on where to drive to or advice!
Promenade des Anglais
Visit the Cours Saleya Flower Market – Nice is known for all of its beautiful flowers so this is a market you can’t miss. The market is lined with cafes, shops, and aisles and aisles of fresh flowers. It is open six days a week, with the exception of Monday, when there is a flea and antique market in its place.
The Nice Port
Go Cycling – Nice and the surrounding area are a great place to go cycling. There are many tour operators here who will take you to some of the surrounding towns and lookouts or you can just grab a map and go yourself.
Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art – The MAMAC has four connected tours, each featuring modern and contemporary art. There is a great collection of sculptures, conceptual installations, and paintings. The view from the top is amazing.
See a little slice of Russia –
what is the current best private beach in Nice these days particularly where the sunbeds are not on top of each other,
We are meeting with a Nice Greeter at the end of the week and I was wondering what is the proper thing to do. They are volunteers who take their time to welcome tourists.
Does one tip them? Offer to take them to lunch? Being a New Yorker I learned at my mother's knee to tip everyone for everything. But I know now living in Vermont this is not always the right thing to do.
Here in Nice and I can't seem to find a store that sells oatmeal. I've been to Casino and to Monoprix, two of the bigger supermarkets, and they don't seem to know what the heck I'm even talking about.
Can anyone help. I miss my oatmeal breakfast.
Where would people recommend to eat on New Year's Eve where we can stay on and see in the New Year? And where can we eat late lunch/ early evening on New Year's Day?
Will be in Nice from 20 for 3 - maybe 4 days. Tow question:
Which is the best place to rent cars in Nice and drop at Paris. Is it better to do it from overseas?
Where could I get the best bouillabaisse (traditional) in Nice?
