My husband and I live in Texas but taking a different route to visit friends and family in Pennsylvania. We decided to make a one night stop in Niagara Falls and made a hotel reservation on the Canada side. I have been reading "horror stories" of incidents that have happened crossing to/from both sides, and very few good stories on that site. We are law-abiding U.S. citizens and are professionals. The horror stories have me/us second-guessing a trip to Canada to see the falls. Are there more "good" experiences than "horror" experiences out there about crossing the border?
I am planning a Road trip driving from Boston through to Niagara. Would this be crazy to try and do this journey in the 1 day when we have a 6 & 15 year old in the car. If crazy can anybody suggest some nice stop overs's for a family.
We are travelling in late July from Miami to Buffalo. We are spending the first night in Buffalo then heading to Niagara Falls. I have read that the Canadian side is "nicer" but we are open to staying either on the U.S. side or the Canada side. A relative told me that due to the exchange rate and lower taxes, he recommends the American side. But, after we spend 2-3 days at Niagara Falls, we wll be heading to Toronto for a couple days so we will be in Canada eventually anyway. I think the tours we will be taking originate on the Canada side, so that is another reason to stay on that side. We are looking for hotels in the100-$150 range. What does everyone recommend?
Hi there, I have a question about driving to Niagara Falls from NYC (Mahattan).. My boyfriend will get off work at 5pm.. and we plan to drive all the way to Niagara Falls. I have been searching.. if I'm right, it will be around 7-9 hours of driving. Do you think I should not stop anywhere and check-in at Niagara Falls area .. or I should stop somewhere, (half trip) and continue driving in the morning to Niagara Falls? and where should we stop and stay over night? I will have mom&dad come with us. we plan to leave NYC Friday after his work done and come back anytime on Sunday. Please help me plan this.. it will be for our honeymoon. and i want his mom&dad to be happy and not too tired. Thanks a bunch.

I am visiting New York from Los Angeles this Fall and I wanted to visit Niagara Falls. So, my plan now is to fly from Los Angeles to Buffalo, rent a car and spend a night in Niagara Falls on the Canada side. Then, I'll drive to New york and drop the car at one of the car rental locations. I am planning to stay a week in New York. What do you members think about this plan? Any advice? I appreciate any comments. Thanks.
Hello, My family and I are touring NY State this summer. I can stay at Niagara Falls for either 2 or 3 days before heading to Watkins Glen State Park. Without running like a lunatic, is 2 days adequate to see the main attractions at Niagara? Would staying for 3 days leave me looking for something to do too early in the day? I am planning on staying on the Canadian side and we prefer to travel in the evenings and spend our days at each location. Thanks for your help! Matt
Hi, I'll be in Buffalo for a couple of days, and I plan to go over to the Canada side of Niagara falls. Can I know whether its better to take the bus / walk or to rent a car?
Has anybody done one of the day tours from New York to Niagara Falls? There seems to be a few different companies out there advertising, but all seem similar. They are all about 12-14 hour days, but a day trip is the only way we can get out there to have a look. Living in country Australia, this amount of time does not bother us, but not sure whether the cost (around450ea) is actually worth it. Thanks
My brother is planning a last minute wedding, so in a few weeks he will be married at Niagara Falls. I am not familiar with the area, but I understand his ceremony will be on the NY side in or near Prospect Point. We would like a place, hopefully within walking distance for the immediate family to stay. It doesn't need to be fancy but clean and nice. My brother had heard of the Red Coach Inn, which looks good on the website. He also mentioned Quality Hotel & Suites, but some of the reviews mentioned bed bugs--eeeekkk! Any hotels or B & B's you would recommend? We also would like a place to eat a dinner the night before the wedding and also a spot for lunch. It doesn't need to be super fancy but the dinner should feel special. Any recommendations? Thanks!
Traveling by train in June from New York to Niagara Falls station on American side. We're staying at Embassy Suites on Canadian side. Any suggestions on how we get to our hotel? Cab??? How expensive??
I am planning on visiting Niagara Falls on the weekend before memorial day this year with my girlfriend for our 2 year anniversary. Right now it looks like we will be staying for the weekend getting there on Friday late morning/early afternoon. We live in Milwaukee WI and the ride is roughly 10 hours plus some time for stopping. We are planning on visiting both the Canadian and the US side. I read that the Canadian side was better, is it even worth visiting the US side? Also are there any must do's when we are there on each side? Also I was wondering how many days will we need? Should we stay till Monday morning or leave sunday afternoon (keep in mind the 10 hr drive). We just plan on doing the must-do attractions, since we are both in college and on a tight budget. If anyone knows any cheap but clean hotels to stay that would also be very helpful. Nothing to fancy just want to have a clean room. Thanks for any help, Matt
Well I have a friend who needs to go to Buffalo in March..and I was thinking of going to for the weekend..going to Niagara Falls. Would this be stupid?? Is it all Frozen? I know I won't be able to do some things that are on my list like the Maiden Mist etc..but is it worth going!! Ideas for things to do during this time of year would be great!
Hello, We are travelling to Niagara Falls (US Side) and need suggestions on budget hotel/motel around Niagara. We have earlier stayed in Holiday Inn close to falls but this time we are on a tight budget. OK to stay a couple of miles away (as we will be driving). Nothing fancy, just clean rooms and no bugs (from whatever review I see bugs is a major problem in many hotel)
Ill be visiting Niagara Falls without a Canadian Visa (I have a Philippine passport), would it be worth my while? we plan to drive from Chicago and stay overnight before proceeding to New York City. Any suggestions how long I need to stay there if i can only be on the US side?
My husband and I are driving from Connecticut to Niagara Falls. We are planning on staying on the Canadian side. We would like to stop over night about half way and need advice on where we might stop in New York State. Perhaps near a lake? If anyone has any advice we would appreciate it.

I have 1.5 day: Day 1 from 1pm - 7pm (6 hrs), Day 2 from 9am - 6pm.(9 hrs). Which day should I spend at Niagara falls US and which day should I spend at Niagara Falls (Canada)? Which side should I stay to keep cost low? Thanks
Hey everyone We will be coming up to Niagra Falls next weekend and need a reasonably priced place to stay close to the falls etc (on the US side). Somthing around100 to150 a night - closer to100 the better! Also how easy is it to cross the border from the US side in a car (for brits) and how far is the drive to toronto? Thanks everyone!
Hi all! I have seen in the timetable in the Maid of the Mist website that they say "American side: 15 minutes later". My question is: is the trip exactly the same whether you board in Canada or in USA? Or is it better to cross the border and board the boat in Canada? I have read 1000 times that Canadian side is much more impressive, but I don't know if the sights will be the same wherever you board or not. Thanks for your help!!! :) Best regards! Maria
I will be in Cleveland from August 20 through the 27th. What is the quickest way to travel to Niagra Falls and back to Cleveland during that week. Just an overnight trip. Thanks
I am travelling from the US side and would like to go to the Canada side of Niagara Falls. What documents would I need to get to Canada? I don't have a passport right now, so is there another document I can use?
Hello everybody! We are a family of 5 travelling to USA and Canada this summer. We will arrive to Niagara by plane (Buffalo), and after visiting the falls, our plan is heading to Toronto. I haven't been able to find how to cross to Canada!! Most of rent a car companies do not allow you to take the car from Buffalo to Toronto. So what is the best way of moving around the area? And how can you cross to Canada with all the luggage without a rented car? Can you take a taxi or bus to the border and then another one in the other side? Any suggestion/advise will be more than welcome. As we travel with 3 children (1 of them only 1 year old) we would like to have something planned in advance. THANKS!!!! Maria
