Can someone recommend, from personal experience, a restaurant in Newport Beach where one can get a really nice dinner (good food & ambiance) for less than a fortune? Preferred cuisines would be: Mexican or Westcoast Robert
Please define "fortune." Seriously, if you give a dollar range you are talking about, you will get a much better response.

A great restaurant that has good prices is the Beachcomber Cafe at Crystal Cove. I have been there and also to their Malibu location. You can make a nice dinner with just the appetizers. A favorite of mine (travel oriented of course, is the Mosambique Steak House in nearby Laguna Beach. They even have a complimentary shuttle service from the neighboring beach communities. http://www.mozambiqueoc.com/ Should be within your price range, but also a bit unique......
