Here's the link to the rules dol.govt.nz/er/pay/minimumwa... If you have come from a society that tips regularly, be aware that it is not common at all in NZ unless at a very expensive restaurant, or for exceptional service and is the exception rather than the rule. To be legal you will also be required to pay tax on this income - rough tax figures income of say500 a week tax of about80

The minimum wage is %13.50 (before tax) - that's for adults aged 16 and over but for new entrants, and employees on the training minimum wage it is10.80 an hour (before tax). You might be classed as a new entrant. If you are thinking of working here, it might be best to try and obtain an IRD number before you start work (I'm not sure whether or not you can do this off-shore) - see ird.govt.nz/how-to/irdnumber...

Do foreigners pay the same tax rate in New Zealand. they don't here in Australia -they get taxed at a higher rate (they have no tax free threshold)

Same rate here in NZ. Including ACC (a form of national insurance) the top rate is 34.7% (anything above NZD 70 000) all detailed here ird.govt.nz/how-to/taxrates-...
