Can Someone Reccomend a Better Backpackers in Auckland

by Marciano Online Now Jun 5, 2012 at 10:56 PM

Can someone reccomend a better backpackers in Auckland. I was at the City Lodge and caught scabies there, not good, hard to get rid of. A really unpleasant experience for my first time in Auckland. The staff were rude to especially the manager, he couldnt be bothered and was lazy. Is there anywhere that might be better that members can let me know.

Give us some more information on your needs. eg how long are you in Auckland? Are you a backpacker? And have you had your "scabies" treated or are you taking it with you? How do you think you caught it? From the bedding? Do you have enough money to stay in some private accommodation while you recover?

Have you checked www.hostelbookers.com? I stayed at the YHA whilst I was in Auckland, it was very clean

I usually do not stay at backpackers myself but can recommend to check out the BBH hostel website or brochure and only stay at hostels with a rating above 80%. bbh.co.nz/ha214/Backpackers-... You will find Verandah (85%) at a very good location, and some others at 83%. This is quite good for a city. If you go to a hostel with 65% it surely does not need to have scabies in the beds but other problems, mostly noisy party atmosphere. (Take care, City Lodge and City Garden Lodge are two very different establishments.) If you want a single room you can also go for the Four Seasons Hotel in Wyndham Street, a room costs between NZ$ 60 to 70.
