Yes you can buy Vegemite easily in all supermarkets and many stores and gas stations, don't worry. And don't waste your luggage allowance bringing it with you. We even have it in tubes !! You can buy a SIM card from Telecom / Vodaphone / and 2degree shops. I bought one at Noel Leeming a while back. You can buy cheap cell phones with SIM, in supermarkets as well. Have a great time in Queenstown!!

Just in case you had heard something, it is Marmite that is in short supply as the factory was destroyed in the earthquake and is not back into production yet.

Hey Al, have a great trip across the ditch with your mum. You don't need vegemite to put a rose in every cheek in NZ remember it's a lot colder over there. ;o)

Thanks Pam - I don't like Marmite so that's a plus! Dorrise - am looking forward to the cold - both Mum and I love it!

Once upon a time Vegemite sold in New Zealand was made in New Zealand and some afficionadoes insisted it tasted different from that made in Australia. Now it's all made in Australia and exported to NZ.

and Marmite in NZ is very different to the Marmite in UK, because apparently years ago 'we' didn't like the UK recipe. I find the NZ Marmite way too sweet though. I don't recall our Vegemite tasting any different now that it did 50 years ago, and I've been eating it all my life, but I believe your story :-)
