I read with interest that several people are avid bushwalkers. Our friends and I will be visiting New Zealand in November and are thinking of doing several walks (after we look into them a little more) - these are the Milford Track, Abel Tasman National Park, Queen Charlotte, and some around Te Anau.
Firstly, which of these areas would we need a guided tour for, or are they clearly signed enough for us to attempt ourselves. Can anyone offer suggestions - we are obviously on limited time, so a walk of a half or full day in each of these is all we could manage, definatley no overnighters.
Secondly, we are deliberating which way we should go from Te Anau to Mt Cook - via Queenstown or Dunedin, given the fact that we have just come from Queenstown it makes more sense to go via Dunedin, however, it seems such a long way. Are we missing anything if we decide to bypass Dunedin and surrounds?
Many thanks in advance, and any suggestions re walking tours would be most helpful in our planning.
