Can anyone advice best way to travel from Newark Airport to Long Island City. Also can we purchase a weekly pass for the subway? Thanks.
If you take public transportation the best way is to take the aitrain to new york penn station: panynj.gov/airports/ewr-to-f... To get to Long Island City you can take the N or the Q train uptown/Queens. To find that train from Penn station you can walk out toward 34th and 7th ave. Cross and walk one avenue block to 6th avenue to board the subway. What stop you get off depends where you want to go in Long Island City. You can purchase a metro card at penn station. A seven day metro card cost29.00. With that you can take any subway in nyc unlimited amount of times. Hope this helps.

Take the NJ Transit train to NYC Penn Station. From there you can take the E or F train towards parts of Long Island City. Or Take the E, C or A train (8th Ave line) to 42nd Street (1 stop) change to the #7 train towards Flushing and that too will take you to parts of Long Island City. Also at 42nd Street there is a change to the N or R train again going towards parts of Long Island City. Since you did not specify where in Long Island City you want to go, its hard to tell other then with these generalized directions.

Ask three New Yorkers for directions, and you'll get three different routes! My advice is to take the Airtrain to the Newark Liberty Station, where you get NJ Transit to New York Penn Station (DON'T get off at Newark Penn Station!), then follow the signs for the Uptown E subway. It makes several stops in Long Island City. Most likely, if you're staying at one of the nearby hotels, you'll want one of these two stops -- Court Square/23rd Street (where you can transfer for the G or the 7), and Queens Plaza (where you can transfer for the M or R).
