We are looking to taking a long trip to NYC and pick out a gift for our children while enjoying a long weekend. When is it the best time? Ive been there once and she hasnt been there. I know that our time isnt nearly enough to enjoy everything but I just want her to see New York and have a great time. I want it to be cool and fall like in Central park. Michael
Any time is great. I've been there almost every month of the year and for me there's no bad time, even in the rain and snow. Oct should be just fine. It should not be too cold yet (and it does get cold in Dec/Jan). Although I've walked the park in Dec and even ventured out on the river. You just need to watch the weather and dress accordingly. Last 2 weeks of October you may get lucky with the weather around end of Oct and get autumn leaves changing color with cool weather. Always a gamble though. Watch the weather and good luck

Agree anytime is great time to visit NYC - but for the "Fall" experience when trees are changing color and it is cooler, it usually coincides with the The New York City Marathon late October to November (?) and also good weather whenever they have the New York Film Festival which occurs sometime in October....Have fun in Central Park - we just visited in June 2009 and it was summer and sometimes it was raining in June (hotels are also cheaper during summer months though)....Cheers, Norman :)
