I've done the LGA/JFK transfer before, but has many hours to do it leisurely. However, I have an international arrival monday morning (6:15am) next week into JFK and a domestic departure from LGA 3.5 hours later. Problem is that my inbound & outbound connections are only once a day, so I have to do this or kill one more day that I can't afford to do. I know its cutting it close, but honestly speaking, do any of you have great concerns? Is there road construction en route, abnormal traffic, etc.? Still enough time to take the shuttle, or must I take a taxi? Thanks!
there are times one should take the taxi - this is one of them. as of today, there were no reports of construction delays on morning radio but with the required time for checkin at LGA and the potential for delays at immigration and customs at JFK, why take a chance? should you be lucky enough to clear customs in less than one hour ( as we were just yesterday ) then you might consider the shuttle bus.

do you have to wait for checked luggage, or are you just carrying-on? you MUST take a taxi. The only north-south artery is the Van Wyck Expressway, then taking the Grand Central Parkway westbound towards the City, and it will be a clogged artery at Monday morning rush hour. I would liberally overestimate the road time to be under 1.5 hours, assuming no delays due to accidents, etc. So if you're not waiting around for checked luggage, and there are no unforeseen delays, you will likely make that LGA flight.

Thanks for the information. Yes, I will have a checked bag, but fortunately I will be coming off the plane ahead of most and bags will be checked priority. That should at least buy me a little time in customs/immigration.
