Hi, A few years ago we had a meal at Chevy's on 42nd street, it is opposite the port authority. We enjoyed it a lot and we would go back there.

Here are two that we have enjoyed. Each has several locations, making access easy.

Mexicana Mama at 525 Hudson St., (212) 924-4119; and at 47 E. 12th St. (212) 253-7594. I like the Enchilada Roja; it is so good. This is a reasonably priced, informal restaurant.

Rosa Mexicano (www.rosamexicano.com) has three NYC locations. They are near Union Square, 9 E. 18th St., (212) 533-3350; near Lincoln Center, 61 Columbus Ave., (212) 977-7700; and 1063 First Ave., (212) 753-7407. A bit more upscale, at Rosa Mexicano the guacamole is made at your table. Order some!

    Welcome to the Big Apple!

check Yelp, the online food reviews... when we were in New York we relied quite heavily on Yelp and they were pretty spot on.. we tried some asian and some western... we didn't try mexican though, as prior to visiting New York I was in Mexico..

I like Dos Caminos and La Esquina, both in SoHo. Slightly americanized but great tacos and dishes
