In October 2012 my husband and I will have Sat. and Sun. in New Orleans before we cruise on Monday. What are the 'must see' sites and things to do in that short time? We won't have a car. Where is the best location to stay for sites, food, safety walking to places? Any recommendations on hotels and restaurants? Thanks for your suggestions.
Hi Im going to new orleans in august. I was wondering which haunted tours, swamp tours, and plantation tours that are really good and interesting?
WE are going on a cruise later this year, thinking of taking the train to NOLA. Wondering if the train station and hotels are within walking distance to the Cruise terminal. Any info is welcome and helpful.

I'm going on a trip to New orleans, staying in the French Quarter. This will be my second time there so I do know a little about the place, but I'm going with a group of friends who've never been there. We're gonna do a scavenger hunt or dare type of game when we arrive. I need some ideas for some hilarious or embarrassing dares to do in the French Quarter and/ or svanger type questions. Here are some examples we have so far: TASK: Go to any bar on Bourbon st. and get a female to buy you a drink. Get a picture with her. TASK: Get a picture of a team member feeding a beignet to a stranger. (This can be done at any restaurant that serves them: Café Du Monde, Café Beignet) anything goes
What is the best way to get around in Nola to see the sights and festivities. I will be driving into Nola but my suspicions indicate that may not be the best way to get around. Please any feedback will be appreciated.
Hi We are going to the new Orleans jazz festival at the end of april 2012. Can anyone recommend a good tour company for the bayou and plantations? We would like to go on a combo tour. Be picked up and dropped off at our hotel. Any other travel tips would be appreciated. THANKS
I will be in NO for the 2012 Final Four. Where is the best place to park for the games? Can I keep my car there before/after games whlie I walk around the French Quarter?
We will be going to New Orleans March 2-5 and we will have our 11 year old son with us. Can anyone suggest a reasonable priced hotel preferably under100 a night and in a good neighborhood I would appreciate it. Also what are good activities and things for children to do? Thanks
I am planning a trip for four to New Orleans for the SEC basketball tournament march 8-12th. Having trouble find a hotel. Would like to be close to Bourbon St action, and games are played at New Orleans Arena home of the hornets. Any suggestions? Would like to keep hotel under1000. Also, one member is older and rattles the windows with his snoring so a room with a separate sleeper sofa would be awesome! Thanks for your help!
I was wondering if I'd be able to get the best guidance to cover as much NO possible in 3 days and how to do it in a most inexpensive way LOL and any guidance on where to stay.
Hi! Two friends and I are going to be taking our first trip to New Orleans the weekend after Mardi Gras. Does anyone have a suggestion for a good, fun and informative ghost/history tour? Thanks for any suggestions!
Been scouring the internet and jumping back and forth from virtual tourist and tripadvisor and other multiple sites looking for the best hotel to stay in new Orleans in July! SAFETY and CLEANLINESS are both top priorities, as a) I am an EXTREME germaphobe and b) will be traveling with my 2 children and have read many posts about crime and many "shady" areas in and around new orleans esp. where tourists are concerned. Once I secure a hotel and feel comfortable about my choice I can FINALLY get around to researching all the fun and "must see and do" things in New Orleans!! Thank you so much in advance!!!!! I'm hoping this site and its members will help a california girl out!!!
A quick trip to NOLA in February troubles me with the following queries: 1) Where to Eat? 2) Where to Listen? (Jazz/Blues/Funk) 3) Where to soak up culture? (not too touristy) (Note: I'm a food purist, I take taste over a lot of stuff on the plate.) Thank you!
Im looking for a king size Mardi GRAS quilt or bed spread, any suggestions?
Hey. I actually just booked a stay at the La Quinta, french quarter area on the 31st Dec 2011 and 1st Jan 2012. We are driving there. Wondering the best way we can use this short time in NOLA. We like good food, Jazz music, shopping and visiting historic museums. Please help us plan. Thanks!!
Late in March, my girlfriend and I will be spending a week in New Orleans. I am planning on proposing while we are there and am trying to figure out plans to make it a special evening. As it is the first time I will be traveling to NO, I was hoping you experts might be able to help me out.
Planning on being in New Orleans in March. Is it warm enough to swim at that time? Should I bother getting a hotel with a pool?
My husband and I are visiting New Orleans Dec.27 to Jan.2,2012 We are staying in an apartment on Bienvile Ave.We have reservations for New Years eve at Mr.B's, and football game on New Years day. My question:is it a good value to purchase a power pass for 2 days,my kids were thinking of giving us this for Christmas. We would like a swamp tour, a jazz steam boat tour, visit the IMAX, and maybe the cooking class. Any suggestions would be helpful. My husband is not very keen on walking, short walks are OK Thanks
O.K. I read a few good reviews about the Holiday Inn (French Quarte) and decided to book there. I have now heard from several people who say that it is a dump and we will really be disappointed. They said "you get what you pay for". Please, please can someone help me find a nice hotel in a safe area. I want this trip to be like a second honeymoon for my husband and I and I am so confused with hotels because all the opinions are so different. Should we stay in the French Quarter or be closer to the waterfront? My concern with the waterfront is walking to the French Quarter by ourselves as we are not in a group. I need to fix this soon as we are heading to Nola next Wednesday. Thanks so much everyone -- hope we can find a nice place. Mickey
My sister, my friend and I are planning on going to New Orleans this summer. It will be our first trip there. I've done some extensive research and found a few tours we'd like to do. We aren't club people, even if we are underage we don't plan on using fake IDs. I'd like to know the feedback anyone has of the Place D'Armes hotel in the French Quater. Any cheep good places to eat with authentic food and any good independent stores for shopping. And yes we are prepared to take the New Orleans summer heat. Please and Thank You!
Not sure where to post this question. We are planning on going to New Orleans and spending 5 days in that great city! Then we wanted to drive to Miami, and along to way stop and see anything interesting...and primarily go on a foodie tour (ala diners drive in and dives). So we will be driving through Biloxi, Mobile, Pensacola, Orlando...we can veer off of that if there is something interesting to do or see. Problem is: I've been doing s search on interesting things to do in Biloxi or Mobile, or Pensacola, and I"m finding it hard. Have any of you done a road trip like this? Any suggestions? Any highlights for food? (I know about the DDD map website). Some things about us: NO need to do a beach vacation, because at the end we are going to Cancun. We aren't huge Museum people unless there is something ultra cool. We are definitely going to the Casino in Biloxi, so that's already on the agenda. I am from Philadelphia (northern girl, not familiar with the South) and she is from Ireland. Any ideas?? Thank you in advance!
booked a last minute cruise out of New Orleans (fixing to board ship today). Will return next Sunday. Wanted to book a private tour, but having problems finding one (or next Sunday or Monday). Don't want a limo or any thing fancy, just want to spend a day seeing the area. I'm a shutter bug, and 4 hour mini bus group tours just don't cut it. I also often like to go a bit off the beaten path, and experience the 'real' life of places I visit. Will have limited internet access this week, but will check for any responses. THANKS!
My 19 yr old daughter and three of her college friends are going to New Orleans for a few days before Christmas. They are considering the Royal Sonesta Hotel. What advice can you give them to stay safe. Are there music clubs where the girls can go even though they are under the drinking age? Thanks for any help you can give me. A Worried Mom.
We are planning a trip to New Orleans on November 30th. We have booked the Holiday Inn French Quarter on Royal Street. Is this a safe location to be walking around? We will probably take a couple of tours while we are there, but were wondering about walking around at night and returning to the hotel from restaurants/bars in this area. Also, speaking of that, do you have any suggestions for decent restaurants and bars near the hotel? We are just looking for basic, affordable fare and maybe someplace with some great music while we enjoy our dinner. Thank you so much, Mickey.
Hi, we are coming to New Orleans Dec 25, but are not sure if we want to stay for a full week or just 5 days. How is it there during Christmas? Is this a particularly good or not so good time to come visit? Are there a lot to see and do, or are most things closed? And what kind of weather can we expect?
So we are very excited about visiting New Orleans, what are the top five must see's, and the best places to eat. Oh, and any advice about where not to go would be great. Thanks! We will be there this coming weekend if there are any good acts to go see too.
My friend is picking me up at the airport on Saturday...where should she wait and where should I meet her? We really don't want to have her get out and look for me. I would like to go right to the exit and find her. What do you suggest?? Thanks for your help!!!
