What hotels are the best if you want to hang out on Bourbon St and walk back to your room.
My friend and I are going for a girls weekend, we want somewhere easy to get to after drinking.
What do you know about St. Vincent's Guesthouse/hotel/hostel?
Hello everybody...
I'm going to New Orleans with an aunt who loves Jazz. I saw some great places to go (Jazz bars) in the internet, but those places are great to me, to someone with my age (30). My problem (and that's why I'm asking it here and not only googling it): My aunt is a 90 y.o. lady.
She is really active, as I said, love jazz, but I can't imagine her in a bar or in a really noisy place full of young people.
Does anybody know a calm place with a nice jazz for us to go? a restaurant, a place to be seated and not really crowded, a place where elderly people use to go, anything like this?
Thanks a lot in advance!
what is the weather going too be like the first weekend in june.
I have 3 or 4 couples wanting to go to NOLA for a weekend. However, we are looking for a condo or studio on Bourbon Street with a balcony. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Will be visiting NOLA for the first time this May. I have the privilege to be in town during JazzFest. I plan to purchase a day ticket with shuttle once I arrive. What advice do you have to make the most out of my day there? I will be going on Saturday, 4 May in the hope of catching Fleetwood Mac on the Acura Stage.
I asked before but will ask again. We booked a 2 room suite for Jazz Fest and could use a 4th traveller..anyone interested in joining let me know.
April 24th til the 30th
What hotel or hotels are next to Bubba Gumps?
what are the buses from the I-10 hotels to the french quarter. Are they easy to access?
So, it seems I have made a muck up of part of my plans. For some curious reason (only known to TPTB), Greyhound does not run a service on Wednesday, 1 May from Biloxi to NOLA - it runs on Tuesday, it runs on Thursday, just not on Wednesday.
I have e-mailed my hotel in Biloxi and also Gulf Coast Transportation. The other option is to travel by Greyhound from Biloxi to Mobile and then Mobile to NOLA.
Anyone out there want to throw any other options in the mix?
Is there a route that runs by general Pershing st to poydras st
Going to NOLA for a convention and all the hotels around the convention center appear to be either booked up completely or asking for ridiculous rates the week of our conference (March).
A couple of us are thinking of renting a place. It appears to be nicely renovated, by Camp Street, in the warehouse district.
Apparently it's within a mile walking radius of both the convention center and FQ, which is great. However, how safe is that area of the town? Safe enough to walk around in the evenings to/from dinner/drinks in addition to the usual daytime to and fro?
First time in New Orleans so please excuse my ignorance; no offense meant to any current/former residents of the town with my question.
Should cost about $600 for 6 nights, breakfast and happy hour +snacks, outdoor roof top pool. 2 bedroom suite.
April 24th til the 30th. Could be fun.
I want to take my husband for a surprise long weekend to New Orleans Arrive Friday leave Tues morning. Is this time enough to experience the city and what should I do in this amount of time. Thanks
We are leaving on March 14th out of New Orleans for a short 4 day cruise. Does anyone know of any free or cheap cruise parking? Any help would be amazing! Thank you

We're stay our pre-cruise Hilton Riverfront Hotel on Friday and wonder if we can take the Riverfront Street car to the Cruise Ship Terminial next day or will it be any additional walking needed?
I am traveling to New Orleans for my 55th birthday in April with some of my girlfriends. I am not an experienced traveler and need some help finding a suite in the French Quarter or within a block or two. We need 3 bedrooms. Can anyone suggest a place? Thanks!
I am about to rent a house in New Orleans for a short stay in Fairgrounds area. Could anybody give me information about this neighborhood? Thank you in advance
coming in to town for the Sugar Bowl but looking for things to do with three boys, 24, 20 and 14. Besides going out to eat/drink, what would be fun for these age groups?
I'm considering buying a ticket to see Kermit Ruffins at One Eyed Jacks this Saturday night. He's playing with 2 (?) other bands. They say the doors open at 9:00 p.m. I'm assuming that the other bands will play first for about an hour each. In that case, would it be safe to say that Kermit Ruffins probably wouldn't go on until about 11:00 or 11:30 p.m.? Since I would just be getting out of a concert at Preservation Hall at 9:00 p.m., would I have time to eat before going to see Kermit Ruffins? Or should I dash over there to pick up my ticket at Will Call first?
I live in Spain and I am going to attend a meeting at Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans . I am traveling with my family- four of us, all adults-. I am looking for a hotel in a safe area, not far away from the convention Center but within a short waking distance to tourist attraction. I would like to stay in an hotel in the French Quarter, however I have heard it is unsafe. Any advice would be appreciate.
I'll be in New Orleans during the Celebration in the Oaks (staying in a hotel near the French Quarter) but won't have access to a car. Is it practical to take public transit to the event? Do companies run tours to the event from the downtown area hotels?
Hi folks---Well, getting married next month in New Orleans and want some ideas for dinner afterwards.....We got a little cottage in Algiers but will have a car, and the ferry is close as well....Hopefully not too expensive but should probably splurge a bit! We both love fresh seafood....
My wife and I are going to New Orleans this week and will be going to the Saints game Sunday night. Our hotel is in the Garden District. But we may not be there before we leave for the game. Question - from the Garden District, how should we travel to the Superdome? Question - from the French Quarter, how should we travel to the superdome? Thanks
Hi - we plan to spend the last week in March 2013 in NO. Can we just get a room in the French Quarter when we get there or will everything be booked up? We've had luck other places at Visitor Centers having lists of available accomodations upon arrival. Will that work for NO?
We will have a rental car and wish to spend a day touring plantations. Can anyone suggest an itinerary of what plantations to visit, which to see first, second, etc? Would plan to be at first plantation when they open. Thanks.
Hello! This will be me and my boyfriends first visit to NOLA. Does anybody know if the Inn on Saint Ann is a good/safe place to stay. Reading all the postings under warning/dangers made me a little nervous. Thanks in advance!
Five days in NOLA area, want to make day trips to houma, gulfport and somewhere else to be determined later. Will spend one day visiting the Quarter but do not want stay there.(Dont want the bother of changing hotels for one day) What areas do you reccomend as a base for this trip?
My boyfriend and I, and another couple are driving down from Minnesota for a long weekend in the French Quarter in a few weeks. We will be staying off of Dauphine and Pauger and I'm very worried about our walks to/from our lodging each night. It doesn't seem far away from the Quarter from what I can tell by Google Maps and other research I've done, but it looks a little scary. Especially for four tourists that are under the influence. I've been there at least a dozen times but have always drove in from Slidell and parked near Canal St. I've enjoyed my visits there and have never encountered anything bad, ever. Everyone I've met there, and everyone in general were very pleasant, but I've never strayed outside the Quarter. I would love to hear any advice anyone can give me to stay safe and not be a target, aside from the norm (be aware of your surroundings, stay where there are a lot of people, etc), we obviously can't have a group of people walk us home...although, I might consider asking someone :o) Looking for safe routes, etc... Thank you ~ J
My partner and I are travelling to the USA from Australia for Xmas and New Years 2012/2013 :) We were thinking of spending some time in NO. We are both in our early 20's and enjoy going out and meeting people, eating good food and basically running amok :) How long do you think we should stay in NO? any ideas of what we could do while we are there or places/which area to stay? All/any advise would be greatly appreciated!! I feel a bit lost at the moment mainly because the only information i have access to at the moment is whats online and i dont know anyone who has been there personally. Thanks a lot in advance! :D xx
