Great places for good R&B or Swing Dancing?

Las Vegas Apr 27, 2013 at 9:02 AM

Hi, I'm off to LV for the week, visiting family and I enjoy dancing and good music more than gambling. Shows are expensive, too. Any ideas for good places to hear R&B or Django jazz? Or how about Lindy or east coast swing dancing?
Would love meeting up with locals over drinks - where do they go?

      Wandering The Strip

      Las Vegas Yesterday

I just did my first Vegas trip to meet relations from Canada, LA, and UK. Mostly fun. Stayed at the Golden Nugget at INCREDIBLY cheap rates. Didn't lose a dime on gambling. And certainly did not drink up to "the norm". Because of my lodgings and drinking habits, I never had an urgent need for the "porcelain convenience". But you can see I'm not at all a typical visitor. What do the typical visitors do? Are businesses OK with any wanderer on the strip walking in and saying "can I use your bathroom"? (Unrelated note: Had a REALLY nice buffet there!)

      Vegas at Christmas

Las Vegas May 1, 2013 at 3:06 PM

      Hi,

I'm doing a US Multi Centre holiday and we will be in Las Vegas from 21st December for approximately a week.

We plan on doing Grand Canyon for 1 night (South Rim) and then 1 day out to Hoover Damn, we are also going to get married whilst there.

We have a 14 year old who is Autistic so although we are aware it will be busy and crowded we need alternative things to do if things become too much for him. He's well travelled and we put several things in action to limit his stress but plan b's are a good idea.

Also which hotels are actually the best located mid strip?

      Booking table at Lotus Siam

Las Vegas Feb 7, 2013 at 3:16 AM

Hi I am hoping someone can help us. I want to book a table at Lotus Siam on March 2 or March 3. I have gone on the website but it does not appear to be working. In the contacts section when I type I can only see when I highlight the letters. I have sent an email hoping that it did send but have not received a response. Does the restaurant take bookings? If so, is there an email I can send a booking?

Helicopter tours - book in advance or on the spot?

Las Vegas Jan 18, 2013 at 3:27 AM

Hi all, We'll be spending 2 full days in Vegas in early September, we'd like to do a helicopter tour to the Grand Canyon on one of those days. Can anybody recommend a good tour company? I've heard about Papillon and Maverick, but I'm sure there are lots more? Is it necessary to book such a tour in advance? Thanks in advance!

Las Vegas Jan 10, 2013 at 10:45 AM

Hello all, and thanks in advance for your help. My wife and I are coming to Vegas over Valentine's weekend for our anniversary. We need help selecting a few dance clubs. We don't want the recommendation of a promoter who wants us to buy a 1,000 bottle service table. We just want a nightclub with a great dance floor (hopefully hip/hop, top 40 and even a mix of some house if it can't be avoided, lol). We want plenty of good looking peeps like ourselves to mix with. We don't mind a somewhat crowded dance floor, but we don't want to wait in line for an hour or more. Doesn't matter if it's off strip or whatever, we just want to go where the regular folks go to bump and grind to the beat all night without all the pocket picking of the bigshot clubs. We are 30 and 33 yo... Thanks so much everyone! Lyn & Mason

Vegas and New York multi trip

Las Vegas Sep 10, 2012 at 5:42 PM

Anyone done a multi stop to these two places? Decided to venture over the pond for the first time... Never been overly fussed for USA as I am a massive fan of Europe and I also wanted to wait until I had ticked off most of my eastern bloc destinations on my 'to do list' First stop Vegas. It has never really been one at the front of my mind to do, not even in USA. But me and my mrs. wanted to do something completely different to where we have been before. NY Speaks for itself why she would like to go but I am equally excited by this one too to be fair! Any tips on what to definitely see (appreciate a lot of this may seem obvious - even to me it does.) Hopeful there is / will be plenty for us to do, particularly in Vegas as I have always seen this as more of a gambling / stag do destination. We are open to any sort of day trips, activities and events. I am also happy to hire a car. We are in Vegas for 10 days and NY for 5. Next June... We stay in the golden nugget in Vegas and Milford Plaza in NY. We booked today! Cheers in advance!

Length of stay in Valley of Fire State Park, Nevada

      Nevada Jun 29, 2012 at 9:58 AM

I have been looking at various VT web pages for Valley of Fire State Park. It looks like just the sort of place I would love, so I am planning on visiting the state park, possibly this year or the next. We would probably go in February, but may also choose March or April. We enjoy hiking, but as we get older we find that knees (me) and feet (hubby) can sometimes be an issue. We would do best with 4-miles or less hikes, rated up to moderately difficult. I should also comment that the last time I dragged my husband on a hike that involved a narrow trail, with a drop off on one side, he did not enjoy it, as his balance isn't what it use to be, so unless I do these alone, we would probably avoid hikes like that. We do not like to be rushed when we travel, so we do not like to try to cram everything possible into a day. Keeping these issues in mind, how much time could we fill up in the park? Would one or two weeks be too long? I may want to look for one or two other places to visit, as we would probably plan to travel for a month (including coming and going from Wyoming).
