Hey guys! Driving from S. Lake Tahoe to Boise, ID on or around 25 June. Not sure whether to just make one big day of it and get the mileage done (journey is part of a three week fly drive out of SFO and extending to Boise and the Sawtooth OR to break the journey and if so where? Winnemucca looks to be the obvious midway point but I would love if anyone could offer advice opinions! Thanks, Sam
Before Tahoe, see Yosemite. Not to be missed if you can swing it.

You are certainly right there! We have visited several times and love it but have a different itin. in mind for this trip. Sam

Did that drive on my Harley a few years ago. It's not all that much of a view especially the first part prior to getting into Oregon. Winnemucca is only good for sleeping. I would just do it all in one day.

Not knowing how much time you'd spend, or if you'd be interested in the outdoor (camping/hiking), but Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest is massive and June would be good weather. It would add ~2 hours to your driving time. You'd have to take I-80 to Elko, then NV-225 north.
