I have pre-bookes a room at Pietermaai Smal Apartments located on the street Pietermaai in central Willemstad around this years Christmas and New Year.
I have done a some googeling, read a lot on TripAdvisor and the hotels homepage as well the Curasao tips here on VT, but I can not find any good information regarding the beaches close to Pietermaai. Is it a beach near the hotel? How is it? From what I understand the mose beautiful beach close to Willemstad is the one close to the Sea Aquarium. Is that right? From Google Maps I can see the distanse from Pietermaai to the Sea Aquariumis about 4 km; too far for walking. How much by taxi? Or will we find a bus?
Thanks.
We are planning a trip to St Martin in July. We have been coming to the island for ten or more years but have predominately stayed in Grande Case, Orient, and Anse Marcel. This year my husband and I decided to rent a villa in Terres Basses. Our only experience in this area has been at a resort. My question is if the mosquitos are worse in this area? I have read a few reviews online and it seems that many villas in Terres Basses are plagued by mosquitos. Could it be worse in this area and if so I would rent something in the French Cul de Sac. HELP!
Are the car rentals for Avis on the French side nicer than the Avis Dutch side?

We'll be travelling to St Martin in the near future with family members including a 4 month old grand daughter. Her parents are hoping to not have to tote a week's supply of disposable diapers/nappies with them. Are these easily obtained in the supermarkets on the island?

On my recent visit to Sint Maarten, I had a drink at one of the outdoor cafes. I admired the beautiful glass in which it was served: a clear glass with a pink design. I was told that it might be available at a Marigot market. We could not find it. Can anyone help with information about a source for purchasing these drinking glasses? One of them had a small pink strawberry in the design, another had some French script. Thank you.
Me and my wife are looking for a hotel on the south/Dutch side of St. marten for March. My family owns a time share there (RCI/divi/little bay). Our weeks are in August so that is almost impossible. I saw a couple of deals on livingsocial and groupon(is it ok to mention that here?). The places in question are the Sonesta great bay beach and sonesta maho. One of those is RIGHT next to the airport. We were wondering if it is too loud. Also if anyone has any better suggestions, I am open for anything. Thanks in advance.
I'm looking to visit St. Maarten next month and I'm on a budget. I would like to avoid renting a car and I hear the buses are not very good. Are the roads safe for bike riding? I figured I could just ride around the island but I'm not sure if the traffic is dangerous.

My husband and I have a conference in Curacao in March 2013 and our adult children would like to come stay with us. While I'm thrilled they want to vacation with us, I want to get the best possible location on the island. What part of the island would be best? I'm assuming some nightlife.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a 2 week itinerary for these 3 islands? Can any of the 3 be skipped? Best food, snorkeling? Affordable accomodations?
I am hoping to visit Sint Maarten some time in the near future. I would like to rent out a villa and I would like to know the best neighborhoods on both sides of the island. I'm talking safety, not worried about shopping or nightlife, I csn drive to that.
