Snorkling in Nerja?

by simiritch Online Now Jun 17, 2012 at 9:32 AM

Hi, My wife and her friend are in Nerja for a week (17 June - 23 June), and I would like to recommend a place to go snorkling. Does anyone know of a good place to do this where they have equipment rental? Or maybe an outfit that takes you on a boat to a nice area, that also has equipment rental? And while we are at it, any suggestions on things to do such as visit some caves that I have heard about? Thanks! Richard.

I have not done any snorkelling but friends we recommended Nerja to found this place Snorkeling, Buceo Nerja Costa It is located on Playa Burriana the main strtch of beach going east from the Balcon. www.nerjadiving.com Nerja caves are certainly worth a vist - just a little way out of the town - pass the old sugar factory and the high aquaduct. They probably get very busy in high season wnen numbers admitted together may be restricted for safety. I have suggestions on my Nerja page of other places to visit from Nerja. Hope they have a good trip!

If the adverts are still posted around and about - there used to be a walking tour of Frigliana run by a retired American gentleman. You used to catch the bus from Nerja to Frigliana which arrives there at 11am (check) and then he meets the bus and anyone who wants-to can join. Lasts about 90 minutes or so and is well worth it. A fascinating insight into the village plus a chance to spend time there afterwards. It wasn't expensive but was a worthwhile way to spend 1/2 a day. He advertises also under the guise of "Ghost tour of Frigliana" - this is the evening walking tour but check times of buses coming back as i think it requires a taxi that late at night. (It's not very far from Nerja)
