Hi there,We am planning a trip to Nepal in April next year and I have not been there since 2006. I feel a lot has changed regarding costings. We plan to go to Kathmandu and after a few days fly to Pokhara as the bus last time made me rather car sick!It was not pretty. Does anyone have a costing for a return flight? We plan to hire a guide through a travel agent there for a 6 or 7 night gentle trek staying in tea houses. Can anyone again give me a ball park figure per person - there will be 5 of us and do not want to join a group. Last time I did Dhampus, Landruk,Gandruk, Tadapani, Ghorepani & Tikedunga but we are open to suggestions on this one although we have come to see the rhododendrons in bloom. Rock on April. Thanks Anne
You have to pay around200 pp for a returning flight (Buddha air), i think its 100% worth , a other option is maybe to go by private car . I you like you can also hire a private guide by your self , we did this also last year and did pay around15 per day for a guide and10 per day for a porter. We did use the guide and porters for the same trip that you did back in 2006.

Hello Anni, God designation to coming April in Nepal. Yes this is the trek season in Nepal with Rhododendron flower time in Nepal forest. As i read you have already done pun hill trekking then i suggest to you fly to Jomsom and Trek to Muktinath then walk down to pokhara via beni. Or, trek to sickles area machhepuchre real base camp from Pokhara. This area still less touristic area and simple home stay trekking. Jomsom area is professional trek route for Annapurna and mustang trek as you wish . Beside of that in Nepal just north from Kathmandu Valley called Helambu Valley Trek also well known for Rhododendron Trail trek and cultural about 6 or 7 days. if you need more detail info and itineraries please welcome by PM. Namaste from Kathmandu

To compare 2006 now the road to Pokhara better then that. In April less chances to getting problem in this road beside taht every day many flights to pokhara form kathmandu no problem only the cost is increased then before like now around 85 US$ per person . To hire guide or organize Trekking in Nepal there are many Trekking agency on the street of thamel you may direct deal with them after your upon arrival. Talking face with guide and prices, services etc. If you want my recommended i will send you by PM if you need more detail info and itineraries please welcome by PM. Namaste from Kathmandu

Many thanks for quick responses. I was thinking of booking a guide/porters in Pokhara and getting there on our own but would it be better to book them in Kathmandu? Anne

Just hire guide/porter in Pokhara when you start a trek around Pokhara.

How about going to Gorkha and starting a trek from there. It would take a day to reach Besisahar, the beginning of the Annapurna circuit. Or just start at Besisahar, the scenery is really beautiful on that side of Annapurna and less trekkers. \\you could trek up to Manang in 4 or 5 days and return in much less.

Lots of good info already posted and only a few snippets to add 1) Flights are as posted, around about100 per person each way – Another alternative would be to hire a micro bus, I know you said in the past you got car-sick, but at least in a micro bus you could stop as often as you wanted – Prices are around the150 mark so a considerable cost savings too 2) Trekking Prices – They have gone up and now expect to pay around55 per person for a packaged trek, For a group of 5, that would include a Licenced Guide and porters, land transport to and from the trail-head, all permits, food and accommodation, but not bar bills, tips or client insurance – But if it were me then I wouldn’t opt for a package but instead hire out the trekking staff that you require through a Good TAAN registered agent, a licensed Guide costs about25 per day, that includes his food, accommodation, insurance but Not transportation to and from the trailheads or tip – a Porter/Guide is around20 and a Porter around15 – again that includes food, accommodation, insurance but Not transportation to and from the trailheads or tips. + You will need to pay around25 /$30 each for your own food and accommodation,30 each ANCAP and10 each TIMS ($20 if you organise this in advance through an agent) – Prices are much the same as the packaged trek but this way you retain full control and can then stay where you want and eat where, what and when you want. The agent that I use is Kathmandu based, he would happily arrange your trek but you would save a little bit of money by using a Pokhara based agent Good Luck and Happy Safe Trekking Rob
