A Senior couple intends to do Columbo,Sri Lanka to Goa over land in February then fly to Katmandu for a 5 days light Trek..should we do the trek before going south or vice versa..What will the weather be in end Feb and March..? WE appreciate moderate comfort ,recommendations appreciated.
The later you leave it the better the weather will be. It can be real cold in February but you just interested in a very short trek, allow a day to get ur permit

It's kind of awkward timing for both areas. End of Feb/beginning of March is when it starts to get hot (rather, hotter) and humid in Sri Lanka and south India, but March will still be too cold for trekking (at elevation, at least) in Nepal. There are lower altitude treks there, though - is that what you're planning? Either way, you should visit Sri Lanka and Goa earlier.

March is my own favourite month for trekking – I have trekked ABC, Langtang, Upper Mustang and EBC in March and by and large had excellent weather – OK it can be a little cold, especially at elevation and you can get a little snow, but usually you have warm sunny days with clear blue skies in the mornings, cloud can build as the afternoon wears on and there can be a little rain in the evenings, then when the sun drops it can get cold, especially at higher altitudes (But with only 5 days available you aren’t going to be able to get too high) . If you take a look at my Langtang and Upper Mustang videos as well as my trek reports from The Arun Valley and EBC from this march (there are a lot of photos) it will give you a good indication of what to expect. Good Luck and Happy Safe Travels Rob
