time to check the south coast

We will be leaving for a month in Jamaica on the 29th of January and as usual we will be staying at Roots Bamboo Cabins for the first two weeks. We then plan to explore the Hope Wharf area for 3 or 4 days then return to Roots.. Has anyone been there and can you give us any tips on accomodations. We would like the cabin type of accomodations near the beach.This is my 42 or so trip to Jamaica and am interested in looking a little further into the island.Anywhere up past Bluefields is what we are looking for.
