i am travelling in mid may, should i book a hotel now? i would prefer to be foot loose... will it be hard to find a room then? i have rooms booked for the beginning and end of my trip. thanx! m.
You can book as you go in May, no problem. Either talk to the locals who meet the boats or find a room-finder business ('rooms to let') nearby to the ferry dock. Near the Chora is St. George Beach with a lot of affordable accomodations.

As Brotherlee has recommended- you can book as you go. I recommend the Hotel Grotta- which is within walking distance of restuarants,archeological museum, old town, and other interesting sights.It has magnificent sea views too. There is so much going on in Greece right now that yes it is better to book a little before you go. I hope there won't be any ship strikes by then. Naxos is a nice destination and lucky that you have picked.

No, you don't have to book rooms in mid May it's low season. I've been going quite a few times over 25 years and I have never booked rooms. I just find something on arrival.
