by essayeffsea Online Now Dec 4, 2006 at 10:34 AM

Hi, travelling to Natal in Jan.I know eating out and drinking are approx half the cost or less than the uk but what about cigarettes? Should we buy duty free at Airport or plane or buy local in Brazil. Can you get uk brands B&H or Regal or even US brands, Marlboro are ok?

Cigarettes are DIRT cheap in Brazil (around 50p a pack), and international brands (N. American, but not UK) are available. I recommend Camels.

Cigarettes there work out at about 80p a packet, so that is definitely cheaper than duty free. I don't remember seeing any brands that I was familiar with... you just try different ones and see what you like... LOL

Buy your cigarettes locally. We stayed at the Parque Da Costeria and Malboro were around 80p per packet. You can also buy them at the airport on the way out after you have gone through security at the cafe. There is only only cafe in the airport once you have gone through to the departure lounge. We have been to Natal 3 times and we are off again on the 20th Feb. We love it Hope you enjoy it. Julie
