Bomjour from Peshawar, This region, famous for the local tourism, far from militancy, so I don't see any troubles there for family travel. I'be been to Shogran and trekked a few times to Siri paye but never to Saif-ul-Maluk. There are fellow VTers like Besal, who would come up with better reviews. Bon voyage et happy travels., Imran Schah Pakistan, through camera eye flickr.com/photos/imranthetr...

A Good hotel that we stayed in Naran was PTDC. They have reasonable rates (a bit expensive than other hotels). You can book there hotel from PTDC office in Islamabad. They have options for standard room, cottages, etc.

For Shogran Pine Park is the best, a bit expensive and difficult to book in summers. We stayed at Lahote Guest House, about 5 years ago, and the place was worth the price... Place is safe other than ordinary thefts and thugs. A lot will depend on your transportation arrangement, especially the driver. If you are driving on your own then Pine Parke in shogran and PTDC in Naran seems good. I will suggest you booking a car/jeep for the whole trip. Leave Islamabad early in the morning and travel all the way to Shogran with stopover in Balakot. It will take 6-8 hours; 4-5 hours for Islamabad-Balakot and 2-3 hours Balakot-Shogran.. Spend 4 nights. Do Sri and Paye as day trip, 4x4 is required, easily available from Shogran. Check the market before booking one. From Shogran, go to Naran, atleast 5-6 hours, so leave very early in the morning, so that you can get cheap rates in Naran for hotels. Spend there 3 nights. make a day trip to Saiful Muluk, 4x4 is required, easily available, but do some bargaining... On your way back, make a stopover in Balakot for one night to break the long journey... Back to Islamabad.....
