heat and hurricanes?

Hi, My boyfriend and I would like to go to Naples, FL in August. I have been warned about the extreme heat and am wondering if our plan to go in August is not so good. Is the heat unbearable? Also, we are considering the fact that August is during hurricane season. Does anyway have advice on these two issues? Thanks, Hannah
