I will be in Springfield, MA for 5 days in November. I am a huge Emily Dickinson fan and plan on spending a day in Amherst. I don't drive. Is there a bus route that goes to Amherst that is reliable?

      Handicap Parking in the City

      Boston Jun 23, 2014 at 12:49 PM

My husband and I will be there at the end of August / beginning of September and plan to rent a car. I would like to avoid a rental car and just take public transportation, but my husband has a bad knee, and I just don't think he can do all that extra walking.

I know that several major cities will allow you to park on the street for free with a handicap placard. Is this the case in Boston?

      Thanks for your help!

Boston Common Hotel near Copley Square

      Boston Jun 30, 2014 at 1:35 PM

Hi, y'all. I am playing travel agent again. I have two women who would like to stay for a few (I don't know many) days near Copley Square in Boston. The prices of most hotels are frightening - $400 and up. Perhaps there's a conference there at the random dates I picked (October 10th or so)?

However, the Boston Common Hotel comes in at half the price (still around $220, depending on the discounts). What do you think of this hotel for two reasonably savvy, self-propelled women (60s and 80s)?

      Hi,

I live in Southern CA and will be traveling to Nantucket in early September, 2011. I have figured out it's an island (duh!) and that I'll need to get there from Boston. I understand I can fly there or take a high speed ferry. Could someone tell me how I get to the ferry (and which one) from the airport? It is all a mystery to me! And, is Martha's Vineyard on Nantucket, or v.v. and how does this all relate to Cape Cod? Hyannis?

Thanks for ANY help you can give me!

    • A day trip to Nantucket

by Maris10 Online Now Jun 18, 2010 at 12:43 PM

We are planning to make a day trip to Nantucket. We'll be taking a ferry from Harwich. There will be 5 adults and one 10-year old. Are there any shops/restaurants or anything to do walking distance from the dock? Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks - M

    • Help in identifying my photos in Nantucket

by MartySpec Online Now Oct 14, 2005 at 12:08 PM

I recently visited Cape Cod and Nantucket, on a bicycling trip sponsored by Elderhostel. The trip was excellent in every respect, including virtually perfect weather.

While in Cape Cod, we stayed in Brewster at the Ocean View Resort, which we especially enjoyed.

During the trip, I shot many photos, which I intend to share with my traveling companions. However, in a number of cases, I can't recall exactly what it was that I was photographing.

My photos are posted on the Internet, and can be viewed as a "slideshow" at the following web address:
      community.webshots.com/album...
Each individual image has an image number, plus a caption that appears with each image in the slide show view.

I would appreciate your looking at the photo caption and emailing back captions for those images that are not identified, as well as any suggestions you might have for improved captions. Thanks in advance.

I'm looking for some VT personal experiences on the Island. Primarily, what are the best hotels on the Island? Also, what is a good length of stay? We were thinking about staying 6 nights but we're nervous that we might get bored after a while. Any info would be appreciated!
