Bus to Hanoi Questions

by wilocrek Online Now Sep 7, 2011 at 6:59 PM

I will be arriving from Guilin to the Langdong early in the morning (abouth 3:00 AM) and would like to catch a early morning bus to Hanoi. What are the bus times and cost? Also are those buses generally full? Will I be able to purchase a ticket that same morning? If not does anyone know how to book a ticket in advance? Im currently in Guilin and will not be able to get to Nanning any earlier to book a ticket the day before. Thanks in advance!

There two buses each day to Hanoi from Nanning, 7:30 and 8:30. The trip takes about 12 hours and a ticket will cost around 180 RMB. There is a ticket office on the left side of Nam Feng Hotel, and one near the Train Station...ask around. The ticket office may not open until the bus has already left, so you might have to buy it the day before. There also is supposedly a ticket office at the Laodong Bus Station.

An alternative is a hard or soft sleeper train from Nanning to Jialin (Hanoi) which costs 160rmb/240rmb. It leaves at 6:30 pm and arrives at like 4AM. Just go to "window 16" of the train station.

You must have your passport with Vietnamese Visas already to purchase the tickets. You cannot get them at the border.

This information was good as of February 5, 2012.
