Hi, I am interested to view cherry blossom in Japan, but I am told it is kind of late for some of the popular areas like the cities, Tokyo and Osaka, by the time I visit in 2nd week of April. I am told Nagano would be a good place, got chance, I checked Japan-guide.com and realized Matsumoto is one of the places for viewing cherry blossom even in April. I intend to travel to Nagano via Tokyo and I will make short trips to Matsumoto during the my stay at Nagano, does this sound good enough? I come from Singapore. Thanks.
My husband & I would like to spend a few nights in the Tsumago/Magome area en route from Kyoto to Tokyo at the end of May. Any suggestions of places to stay, eat and things do for a reasonable price (we plan to hike the trail between the two towns)? We are very open minded, flexible and are seeking a peaceful, traditional experience to end our rather whirlwind trip. We are also open to any suggestions of alternative places to go between K&T which would have an old Japan feel with a possibility for a hike in the countryside. All responses a very much appreciated.
Hi all! Firstly I apologise if this isn't the right forum to post this sort of question, if you can give any advice or direct me where to go for this it would be much appreciated. So I'm travelling to Japan (for the first time!) and am planning to go snowboarding for a few days, from Jan 26th-30th, in Hakuba, Nagano. However now I'm stuck with a 2 person room to myself, the cancellation fees are very high and it's a bit late to start trying to find new accommodation, else I would have gone to a backpackers, and so now I'm asking around to see if anyone would like to share the room with me and split the costs. I'm a 22 year old Australian male and am not too picky about room mates and would be happy to share with about anyone, and also I'll be staying at the Hakuba-Allure. If anyone would like further details, feel free to message me. Sorry again if this is the wrong place! I wasn't sure whether or not this fell under advertising/solicitation.
Few of us are planning a ski trip to Japan, and would like to explore other resorts outside Niseko. Flights to Tokyo are always easier to organise, so somewhere on honshu will be good. - Which resorts will still have decent snow/powder by early to mid March? - Preferably with good runs for both beginners to advanced snowboarders (ie no long flat runs please!) Thanks!
I'm wondering if it's feasible to drive from Nagano to Kyoto, in a day, perhaps to see a bit more than I would see on the train.
Chuo Taxi Shuttle b/w Matsumoto and Tokyo’s Airports Hi Guys, Would anyone know how long will the journey take from Matsumoto to either Narita or Haneda with this shuttle service? Also, what is their schedule? Are they reliable? Any other shuttle service between Matsumoto and Tokyo’s airports? Thanks, Mel
Alpico and Keio Bus b/w Matsumoto & Tokyo Hi Guys, Anyone know for sure whether these buses have toilet on board? Is reservation required for these buses? I mananaged to get Alpico Bus' English page for Matsumoto route's schedule but nothing else... Thanks, Mel
Travelling all on my lonesome... Will be in Nagano from 30th Dec to 5th Jan... anyone around for a good time?
Again, I am having trouble finding an email contact for this motel in Ueda, Nagano. Can anyone assist? I have been on their website and although I can make reservations on-line my accommodation query is a little complicated and I need to see what's possible before I book. Also just checking - I have heard this chain offers "no frills" western style accommodation at reasonable prices - as does U-Inn Ueda. Has anyone had any experience with either of the motels and have any recommendation for either one of them? Cheers!
Does anyone know how I can contact (preferably by email) U-Inn for accommodation enquiries?
Will it be snowing heavily there in Feb? I'm planning a short trip to Nagano with some friends and wonder whether heavy snow will make many places unaccessable by public transport. Will be based around Yudanaka to see the snow monkeys.
I am going to visit Snow Monkey at Jigokudani Yaen-koen. After Jigokudani Yaen-koen, I want to go to your Shiga Kogen ski resort. How do I get there from Jigokudani Yaen-koen to Shiga Kogen? Is there a bus that I can take? How many kilometers is it from Jigokudani Yaen-koen to Shiga Kogen? You can email me at cayuga@gmail.com
Does anyone know where the Europcar / mazda location is in relation to Nagano Railway Station? I have to pick a car up from there and will be arriving by train from Tokyo.
please help me, I'm trying to find a night bus that goes from Tokyo to Nozawa-Onsen in Nagano and I can't find anything, would prefer night bus instead of having to take shinkansen, thanks
Hi We will be in Karuizawa and will travel to Nikko after. Is there any possiblity of getting a train from Karuizawa through to Nikko? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Joe
Trying to find a really nice (traditional?) Ryokan in Nagano or close to monkeys for 24th May - has to be really clean and nice want some luxury if poss - willing to pay up to 22000 yen - single room - can anybody help please
Hi! Me and my girlfriend are travelling to Japan in May. On May 1st we want to go from Tokyo to Nagano to attend a concert. The problem is that the last Shinkansen runs at 21:40 and we´re likely not making it; but we can´t afford spending 10000 yen in a Business Hotel. Is there any alternative?? Anything is valid, from a Love Hotel to a Capsule (it has to accept a man and a woman), to a 24 hour internet place, to a Youth Hostel (with no curfew, obviously); better if near JR Nagano Station, as the venue of the show is near it. Thank you very much for your help!!!
Is any body able to help me with advice re parkinging at or near the Nagano Railway Station. Thanks.
My wife and myself will travel from Tokyo to Matsumoto (via Nagano) by train. We want to stay in Matsumoto or nearby for three days, hire a car and explore the area, going to Kamikochi, the Alps and to Kiso Valley. Then we go to Kyoto by train. Would be helpful to hear from someone who knows the area or traveled there. We would like to find some nice (not too expensive) accommodation in Matsumoto or in the area, as a base. We would also welcome some tips on what to see within this time limit. We'd like to do some walking trips, but no longer than a few hrs. Thanks, Michal
When I visited Matsumoto to see the amazing Crow Castle I also got a look at a very weird statue indeed. Two samurai frogs fighting a huge toad! Anyone knows anything about it, please enlighten me!!!!!!!!!!! :O)
Re: My guitar question, Takato is in Japan.
I am interested in a twelve string accoustic guitar, brand name Egima, made in Takato, but can currently find no information about a guitar manufacturer by this name in Takato. Does this company still exist? What information might you have on this company, either past or present? Is there any contact information? Thank you for any information you might be able to give me.
what is the easiest and fastest way to get from nagoya airport(chubu) to nagoya station.. thanks ursula
I will soon be moving to the Chino-Suwako region of Nagano-ken and was wondering if there are any members living nearby? I'm interested to find out if there are any gyms with aerobics and any good places to hang out. I'll have my touring bicycle with me and wonder if the whole area is rolling hills or steep climbs. Thanks . Tellme@virtualtourist.com
