We are arriving by air in Athens and wish to travel first to Nafplio and then on to Kalamata and finally back to Athens over the course of two weeks. Is it possible to make this trip by bus? If so, can anyone give advice on routes, schedules, cost etc. Would a rental car be a better option even if we will not use it for the week we are in Kalamata as we will be sailing that week? Any advice appreciated.
In Greece the best way to get bus schedules and cost info is to ask help from your hotel desk. They can get the info for you - sometimes they refuse even your tip for this service. I always feel more freedom with a car and a good (updated) map in my hands, while I save also a lot of time. But, is it wise to pay rental for a car sleeping in a parking for a week?
