I know its a lot to ask for but I would like to travel to some of these countries as a day trip or a overnight stay but I want to work out the best options for me.Thank you for any help you can offer.Chris.
We will be leaving our hotel in Central Bucharest to stay in one closer to the airpor tas we have an early flight next day. Is there a metro line which will take us close to Denisa Hotel (Drumul Garii Otopeni nr 62)? Thanks for help
Does anyone know if there is a luggage storage at Otopeni airport , and if so how much it costs/day? We need to store bags for a day (probably 8-9 hours), and we will pick them up when we fly to Baia Mare. Does anyone have any other advice for where we can store a bag for that long? Thanks for your help!
Are there any outlet shops in romania? Outlet means cheaper then normal price.
I've been trying to figure out what short direct flights I can find out of Romania. I fly there every six months and I usually make an extra trip out of my layover.
One year I flew into Iasi, and I had a stop over in Vienna. But as far as I know, flying out of Iasi my only options are pretty much Iasi-Vienna with Austrian Airlines or Iasi-Bucharest with Tamron.
Likewise, flying out of Bucharest, a few good options I see. I did Istanbul one year, it's a nice ~1.5-hr flight from Bucharest. I see Athens is another nice short international flight. This would make for a nice quick stop in Greece.
Any other ones you'd recommend?
We recently visited Bucharest and near the University area, near InterContinental Hotel, we saw a red/white bldg - lovely. No signs, just fence. Could someone identify it please? I have scoured bldg sites, maps, travel books, and can't find it - or am missing it. I took photo but can't seem to find a way to post or ask specific people. Thank you
Is there international railway travel from Bucharest to either Cisinau (Moldova) or Belgrade (Serbia), If so can you give me some information,Thanx,Chris
I've already asked somewhere, in here I think, for a mic place not too far from gara de nord, and was told to go straight outside of the station and turn left, which is obviously Matache. Now I wanted to nail precicely where it is, we've only 2 hours, and thats assuming the train in from Budapest is spot on. All I can find so far is this, which is not very promising http://www.panoramio.com/photo/53040262 that's actually the same as this http://www.panoramio.com/photo/53040266, which at least doesnt have conrete re-enforcing mesh blocking the entrance. If I see this, will I be near ?
Please yours recomendation for a onest rent a car company in Bucharest.
Hello, We are planning a day trip from Constanta to Bucharest and have a few questions. 1. Does the IC or IR train between Constanta and Bucharest run on-time? I read sometimes it can delay for 2-3 hours, is it still an issue now? 2. Are the buses (from GSM Tran, or SIMPA TRANS companies) between Constanta and Bucharest runs on time? Are they in good condition? 3. Where can we buy metro day pass in Gara de Nord in Bucharest? Can we buy with a credit card? 4. Are there stray dogs in main tourist areas in Bucharest? Thanks in advance for your help! athenca1
Hello guys, I will be visiting Bucharest at the beginning of September and I would really appreciate some advice on the best spots for a foodie around the city. What should I avoid and what shouldn't I miss? Cheers!
Is it a safe city?I have heard that are a lot of gypsy gangs who are stealing and stray dogs.I will be travelling alone. How far is Gara de Nord from Law faculty? Where can i find the cheapest food in the vicinity of a Law faculty? Are there lockers on train station for luggage storage? Is there a food court on Gara de Nord? thank you, looking forward to visiting your city soon!
I'm interested in getting from Iasi to Bucharest and the airport is soon-to-close for a few weeks. I've been told the train is a good option and I could do an overnight train. Do you get a bed or a reclinable seat? How comfortable is it to sleep? Do you get your own compartment? Where can I buy it? Thanks!
Hello I'm flying to Bucharest this week from the UK to watch the Europa league final between Atletico Madrid and Athletic Bilbao. My return flight leaves Otopeni airport at 6:00am on Thursday morning so by the time the game finishes at midnight I will look to head back to the airport. Does anyone know if there are night buses running through the night and if so where do they depart from. Regards
Due to a schedule change by Tarom I will now have 6 hours in Bucharest at Henri Coanda airport ...is it worthwhile to catch a bus or a train to the town center?..what could I go to see while I am there? and where could I eat my lunch?
Hey all! My trip to Romania is almost over but listen up! I need a quick answer here cause I waited too long and now I'm in a panic! Lol!!! Kidding, sorta. :p So Cosmina has a phone that is off the cosmote network so she can call/text anyone on that network within her plan. So, if I get some cheapo phone and get on a plan so I have a simcard... can I then bring that simcard back to America, stick it in a quadband phone and use it on the cosmote network? Think the phone might have to be unlocked but definitely a quad band, as we operate on different frequencies. I might just grab one tomorrow before I head home. Pfff... home. Hala Traian and the surrounding area has been my home for the past week and... I'm starting to like it. I'm gonna miss it here. I'm gonna miss.. Cosmina... Thanks. ~ John
Hi all I am heading to Bucharest on March 10 for three nights and am having severe difficulty in finding a cheap single private room in a hostel or hotel for under 30 euros in the city centre. I dont know anything about the city and want to be in close proximity to all the shopping, cafes, resturants and night life. Which is the best area of the city to stay in? I have come across Interland apartments near Piata Univeristaie but I dont know how close this is to anything. So many hotels and hostels have such bad reviews on the website, I have travelled to many places but never come across a city with so many bad reviews for so many places. I just want a single private safe room to sleep in but close to all the action. Can anyone suggest some locations and hostels/hotels?
Hi Can anyone tell me if its possible to hire a taxi, to bring us, 2 to 3hrs city tour in Bucharest, then to Peles Castle and finish in Brasov. Also, is that also possible for us to hire a taxi from Brasov, to bring us to Bran Castle, Rasnov and finish in Shigisoara. Is this safe for 2 ladies and what is the cost? Otherwise, if we were to hire a car with driver, how much will that cost? Thank you
Hey all! So, only 2 days until I set forth to Romania! Yeeeeeeeeee!!! :)) Think everything is all set, all packed and ready. And I want to thank all those on here for their answers to my (sometimes bizarre) questions. :) Just one last question, if I may. Originally, I had asked about flower shops in Sinaia but now, I've decided to get what I need in Bucuresti and bring it with me. So what I need is a flower shop in Bucuresti. I did find some online but wondering if anyone knows of a place near the Pantelimon or Republica metro stops? That would just be more convenient for me as I can, "sneak out" by myself and pick something up rather than on our way to Gara Nord. Specifically, I'm going minimalistic... a single red rose is all I'm looking for. Thanks again! Countdown resuming at 41 hours... :D
I'm flying from Seattle to Bucharest for business. I figured since I'm flying all the way there, I should have a layover in an interesting place, a 1 or 2 hour flight from Bucharest or Iasi. Istanbul comes to mind - 1-hr flight for about100. Are there any other cities in neighbor countries that would be easy/inexpensive to fly to from Bucharest or Iasi?
We'll be in Bucharest station for a few hours, I fondly remember the mitch sold round the back of Brasov square. Can anyone recommend somewhere that sells great mitch that's within easy reach of the station, or anything else of an ethnically interesting culinary nature, including bakeries or delis.
Hi, I am organising this http://gcerc.wordpress.com/route/ We plan to arrive at Bucharest on the EN 473 train from Budapest, which is due to arrive at 11:20. We intend to catch the 12:13 to Istanbul. That leaves 53 minutes connection time obviously, which would normally be way too tight. But this train is really ideal, it goes via central Romania and Brasov, and also gives us enough time to see Bratislava earlier in the trip. There is an earlier train we could get, which has an even tighter connection time at Timisoara at midnight, though I would suggest that the outbound will wait as it's just an internal Romania train and is clearly intended to pick up the down train from Budapest. Anecdotal input is welcome, though any Romanians I have spoken to here have of course said not to trust the train timetable. But I need something harder, i.e from the station itself. seat61 has heard that it's usually no mor than half an hour, but I need that verifying further (seat61 recommends spending a night in Bucharest, which would be great but as you will see from the itinerary, that's not feasible) If you are in Bucharest and either know railway staff, or use the station regularly and could ask at the station as to how often, and by how much, the overnight sleeper from Budapest via Brasov is late (i.e has been late in the last year or so), I would be very grateful. If nether of these trains work we'd probably have to leave Romania out, which would be "nu vrumosc". Multsumesc in advance for any help on this. note:this information does exist, you cant run/fix a railway timetable unless you have this kind of stuff obviously, but its not always easy to get hold of.
Okay, this is a really bizarre question but, are marshmallows (bezele in Româna) available to buy in Bucharest and, where would I find them? I've heard they may not be as common as they are here in the U.S.
Is there at the train station luggage storage in Bucharest?

Buna; Ziua! Posted this in Bucuresti forum as well. I'm planning a trip to Bucharest this winter and am looking to surprise my girl with some late night ice skating. We will have our own skates, just looking for a place, preferably a park that is accessible at all hours. Looking for something quiet and romantic. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Multumesc. ~ John
