Is it enough time for transfer at 0640 hrs to Copenhagen while I just arrive from Munich International airport at 0545hrs?Is easy to find the security check? If I miss it , what can I do.....?
Hi we will be going to Munich on 18-20th June and 23-25th June in Zurich. I heard a lot of people mentioned about going to shopping in Konstanz, Germany for good deals. I would like to know how we going there by Train? How long will the journey take? Which place is nearer to go? Munich or Zurich?
Thanks
Hi I have 7 hr layover in Munich.I will be travelling with 2 kids.I know there is lot to keep kids busy at the airport. But I was thinking of going to the city Center for 1 hr, show the kids around and back to the airport.
Is 7 hrs enough to time or I should drop that idea and stay at airport. Thanks in advance.
I will stay in Munich just for one and a half day in first week of July.
Would you recommend me a accommodation which is convenient in transportation and clean?
My budget is below 80 Euro per a night.
Thanks!
My husband and 18 yr old son are travelling to Munich and wherever this Christmas. We fly into Munich on the 22nd Dec and will have christmas eve dinner in Munich, as well as see the markets. As everything is then closed thought of leaving on the 25th.
Iam not sure where to go to next?
We are Australians but live in the middle east so have always had a warm Christmas.
I have found a place to stay at Oberaudorf, but have to book it for 5 nights.
Then I see Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a great place to visit but will only have 3 days left as we fly out on the 2nd Jan.
I see most places are already booked out as we need a 2 bed apt or similar .
Any suggestions on an itinerary/
I'm taking dad (retiree) and three other newbies to Munich for either Oktoberfest weekend. Ideally, I'd like affordable hotel accommodations, reservations at a fest tent, and a (very) patient guide to handle a senior citizen and the million questions my group will likely throw at him/her. Since time is limited with Oktoberfest around the corner, I'm thinking it might be best to sign up for an all-inclusive tour package, but which one? I've only been able to find what looks like "frat party" tours so far. Any help is appreciated.
Hello everyone!!
I'm planning to go to the Oktoberfest this 2013, but I'm really really lost on this, hope you can give me a hand with all my very basic questions:
When is the best time to go to avoid craziness, if possible :)
What should I book in addition to hotel??
What are the so famous "tends"?
How much money should I expect to use? Mid range drinker
I've heard it gets too expensive, would it be worth to go after the festival to avoid that?
Thank you so much for any extra info you can provide!!!!
Cheers!!!
We will be in Munich between Christmas and New Year's. Our rented apartment is near the corner of Prinzregentenstrasse and Ismaninger Strasse. Can anyone recommend places near there for food, particularly breakfasts and dinners? I'd like to go with a few close-by recommendations for any days we need something closer to "home." Also, is there a grocery/store market nearby where we might be able to pick up a few things to keep in the apartment for snacking or simple breakfasts? Thanks in advance! ~Erin
Hello
I will be in Munich with my husband and 2 year old son for about 2.5-3 days. I was hoping somebody could help me plan the itinerary keeping the kid in mind.
PS: I know Munich is famous for its beer. But I don't drink :)
Is there a difference between München Hbf Gl.27-36 and Munich Hbf? (I am planning to arrive from Fussen in Munich and depart from Munich to Wurzburg 1 hour later - as 2 station are mentioned on bahn.com I wonder if there is a difference).
Is there a luggage storage facility in Munich Central Station - how much does it cost and is exact change required? Appreciate if someone can share the specifics on how to do this (first time on German rail). I can't find this on bahn.com, appreciate if someone can provide specific link. Danke!
Thanks to replies which pointed me out to Bayern ticket with the links
I would like to ask further on the Bayern ticket so I get it right. This is for 2 pax... and I want to confirm that I can use if for these cities. From the website I read that:
- Valid for: Regional trains are all trains with the designating letters RB, RE, IRE, ALX, S-Bahn, BOB (Bayerische Oberlandbahn). Additionally the ticket allows the use of the public traffic system MVV (underground, trams, buses) in Munich and other Bavarian cities and of almost all public regional bus services beyond Munich (RVO, SEV).
- Not valid for: long-distance trains with the designating letters IC, EC, ICE, D, RJ, TGV and night trains (designating letters CNL, EN) is not allowed.
I want to confirm I can use the Bayern ticket for:
- Within same day: Munich to Fussen, Fussen to Munich / Fussen to Wurzburg / Munich to Wurzburg?
- Within the same day: Wurzburg to Rothenburg o d Taub (and vice versa)?
Separately from Wurzburg to Frankfurt airport (I presume this is not possible). Apologies on my geography!
If I buy an online ticket for a specific day:
- is it better than to physically buy the ticket from the station?
- if I buy a ticket for destination to destination (I would have the transfer time and changes of station printed on the ticket). If I use a Bayern ticket does it mean I have to note these details down or it is easy to navigate at the station?
My first time in Germany and first time using the rail system, hence very basic questions. Thanks! =)
I have less than 1 day in Munich and would like to plan ahead to maximize the visit in early June.
Day 1 - arrive via train by 1 PM.
I plan to then make a quick trip to the hotel (near train station) to check in / deposit my luggage then start sightseeing immediately. I know there is a lot to see / experience but I would like suggestion on the "must see" given the limited time I have (not looking for suggestion that I should extend the stay in Munich please).
My interest is primarily sightseeing and taking photos, historical buildings and architecture (don't anticipate to be able to spend time in any museums). Don't think will do much shopping except souvenir (please let me know what are the recommended souvenir for keepsake from Munich). Looking for practical tips on how to maximize within this half a day.
Day 2 - day trip to Fussen and anticipate to be back in Munich by 6 or 7 PM.
I plan to depart to Fussen in the morning for a day trip and I technically have 6 or 7 PM onwards up to 12 AM to spend in the city - is there anything that will be open? How about brewery? Or even a good recommendation on dinner? I will be staying near Central Station Munich.
(I will leave on Day 3 to another city at 9 AM by train)
I'm planning a trip to Munich and a day trip to Herrenchiemsee in a week and was hoping to see the famous Hall of Mirrors there. However, the website says that the visit may be "spoilt" by ongoing restoration in the Hall of Mirrors until June 2013. Has anyone been there recently? How bad is it?
Hi I am buying train from munich to Zurich for end of June. Thinking of buying the first class train because from what I heard that is more spacious for our legs and we can put in our big luggage. Is it true? Any difference between first n second class? I am also confuse of reserving the seat. I don't quite understand the difference of open saloon, open saloon with table n compartment. Please advise me which type to buy. There are 5 adults, 1 child and 1 infant to travel. Thanks
He guys and girls,

Greetings,
Soon, it's my girlfriend's birthday. She is currently working in Munich, and I will make her a surprise.
I will travel there on her birthday, and I !!!need!!! to get her a cake that she loves.
I've been calling pastries for weeks, trying to find one that makes customized cakes, but with no luck. Can someone in that area help me? It would mean so much to me.
Thank you in advance
what is the journey time from solln station to munich central
On March 25th I am arriving in Munich about 23.27 I think (from Stuttgart as you may have seen from an earlier post) and I need to catch a night train to Ljubjlana leaving at 23.40.
Has anyone else done this or is it just mad? Booked the tickets through Deutsche Bahn but they seem to be cutting it fine!
Danke

Can anyone confirm if car rental at Munich airport involves a shuttle bus? I know Hertz is on airport and Thrifty is off airport. Anyone know for Enterprise, Alamo or Budget?
Thanks
Hello!
Will be staying in Munich for a few weeks, so I've been looking at the forum here for ideas (as a result, I have a nice list of things to do and see!). I've done a lot of research already, however, two things I am trying to find, and maybe someone would be kind enought to point me in the right direction: a great beer garden+thermal spa place(probably outside of Munich, from my research).
To be more specific:
-a beer garden that's NOT a touristy establishment. Something that's unique and not catered to The Tourist, a local gem? Good food/great beer.
-was looking at nearby places to visit re:thermal baths and two stand out :
--Bad Tolz and Bad Reichenhall: is one better than the other? (more authentic, more picturesque, etc)
..or any other places aside from above?
Thank you!:)
Hi we are planning to go munich and Zurich in June. Where and how should I book the train tickets to go Zurich from Munich and is there any direct train? What is the prices be like. Are there any hotels near Zurich and Munich area? I am looking for cheap and clean hotel. Preferably walking distance to the stations as I will be bringing to kids along with us. Which alps shall we go to since we are going to munich and Zurich. Thanks
What is a recommended hotel near marienplatz with aircon and lift?
A few questions here! In July we intend Easyjetting from Stanstead to Munich to drive on to Seefeld. (Easy Jet Innsbruck flights are ridiculous cost £257 each! so we have to choose Munich at less than half the cost. We are hiring a car from the airport and are rather dreading finding way out of the airport and driving South to Seefeld which presumably means we have to go round Munich or through it? Question 1 How easy is it arriving through what appears to be a massive airport? Question 2 How simple is hire car pick up ( we are pre paying vis Holiday Autos) is the car hire and office on the airport and hopefully simple? Question 3 What is best route avoiding tolls, in fact do they have tolls in this part of Germany? I have done a lot of foreign driving both in the US and Europe but after a nightmare trying to get out of the Montpellier airport and motorway system two years ago and then being hit in the back on arrival to fly home my wife in particular is very frightened about going through the 2nd largest hub in Germany Can anyone reassure us please (or otherwise!) Thanks
We will be visiting Minich as a group of 5 adults between Christmas and New Year's. Is there much to the beer gardens in winter? I am assuming not, but could be very wrong. We have an apartment rented on the east side of the Isar, around 30 minutes walk to the old town center and very near a U-Bahn stop, and are quite comfortable walking or taking public transport. What are your favorite Munich sights and activites in winter? We are up for most amything... enjoying what the locals enjoy!
Hi everyone, Just trying to sort out some accommodation for myself and my husband for 4 nights we plan to spend in Munich in August this year. we are from New Zealand and our travel agent has recommended the below places. We want to look at everything in Munich but also visit Dachau and hop over to Salzburg. Anyone have any experience with these places? Or recommendations for something better at around same price range? Ibis Styles Munich --- this looked really far away on the map? Winters Munich City Centre - looked average. I have looked at some of the other Ibis/Holiday inn options which all look ok as well... anyone have experience with these? Thank you!
My nephew, his wife and 2 adult sons wish to visit Neuschwanstein and I,m aware they can get to Fuessen on the train but how do they reach the Castle? I think someone mentioned a while back a bus that you catch in Fuessen quite near the station. Do they pay the bus separately to the train ticket?
Hi we are planning to Munich for 10 days in mid June. In between the trip we would want to go Austria, Salzburg and the small town Hallstatt. There are a group of us with 2 toddlers and 2 elderly people to go with us. I would like to go Garmisch- Partenkirchen for 3 nights stay. My enquiries are: - how do we get to the place from the airport? - any recommendation hotel that we can stay? - what will the weather be like during summer? - we are planning to go Austria, Salzburg after the 3 nights, how do we go from Garmisch? Do we need to go from Munich city? - we are planning to go to the small town Hallstatt as well, how do we get there from Salzburg? Thanks
My family (2 adults and one 19 year old student) will be traveling to Munich next week (Friday, December 14 - Wednesday, December 18). We plan to take the train to Salzburg for a couple of nights and then back to Munich. We plan to visit Dachau and are considering a day trip to Fusson for a castle visit or another location. I have read about a Bayern ticket, but cannot find it on the Bahn website. Possibly I am doing something wrong. Is this what I should be looking for? Also, can I have a recommendation for a day trip?
what attractions are included on the card? can we buy the card at the airport so to use it for the train ride to the center too?
I will be staying 4 days in Munich after being on a river cruise for a week. I would love to go back to Oberammergau for a day trip as I understand it isn't too far from Munich. I was there for the Passion Play and fell in love with the lovely and quaint town. My question is will there be any stores opened since it is the winter time and does the train go from Munich to Oberammergau? Any suggestions on day trips from Munich. Also, my cruise ends in Nuremberg so I assume I can take the train from Nuremberg to Munich. I took it a few years ago and it seemed like it took a couple hours. Thanks for the info.
