Is it possible to do a day trip from Munich and visit all 3 places in ONE day using purely public transport in late December (around 21-22) or am I better off joining a tour from Munich? I plan to leave Munich as early as possible (7am), visit Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles first then make my way to Linderhof (if possible). Will appreciate any advice on how I can travel from Hohenschwangau to Linderhof using public transport.
thanks for the great links...websites seems fairly easy to use...my question : any suggestions on itineary (like train to middle Rhine then cruise), what locations to realisticly plan an over night, or head to Munich as basecamp. This is where I am lost....the travel/plus very "basic tourist look" around time at specific cities... any suggestions greatly appreciated!
5 days to travel / Amsterdam to Munich...want to see as much as possible...mature travelers...public transportation..Rhine River Cruise included...Help, Please!
Is it possible to go Munich to Neuschwanstein to Salzburg by public transport ?
What would be involved ??
how late is viktualmarket open on a week day?
how safe is munich downtown late at night \\thanks
For native English-speakers, are the BMW Welt and Museum tours worthwhile, or is signage in both places available in English and probably covers the same or similar information? Any advice? Thanks! ~ Erin
We are spending out Honeymoon traveling to Munich around Christmas. We have 4 nights to spend in Germany before traveling to Paris. 2 night we already have booked in Munich. Do you recommend staying in Munich the other 2 nights, traveling to small towns outside of their? Garmish? Austria? I do want to see the Neuschwanstein Castle which we hope to rent a car for.
We have a few options for those extra few days? Any suggestions of where to go, hotels to stay in at those locations?
What are the options of getting to the Munich Airport FROM central Munich?
Are there any special train ticket options for getting to and from Salzburg? I've looked on the Bahn website, but the prices were somewhat higher than I'd expected. I'm not sure if that's just a more expensive route, or if I'm just not finding the right rates. There will be 5 adults traveling together, sometime the last week of December for a day trip from Munich to Salzburg. Thanks!
Probably a silly question. I'm hoping to take a train that arrives back at Munich at 11pm and I need to get out to the airport hotel. Would I have a problem finding a taxi at the train station? Logically there shouldn't be, but I just want to confirm.
I know I can probably take the S-Bahn and then use the airport hotel shuttle, but that seems like a bit late for public transport. Back home, there are some strange people on the subway after 9pm.
has anyone stayed at the above hotel, if so what is it like and how do we get from the
airport to the hotel
I want to visit Germany, and i am planning all about the trip, however i'm searching economic fares for the airplane ticket.
Where do you think i can find it if i live in Colombia?
What will i visit , if i traveled to Munich,Germany?
Hi, I need to get to Zurich and have been looking at options. I know there is direct train there that takes around 4 - 4.5 hours, but the ticket cost 49 euros. I know there are bus services between the two cities as well that takes around the same amount of time, namely Allgäu Airport Express and MeinFernbus, and the tickets are about 25 euros and 15 euros respectively. While I normally prefer trains, there is a huge price differential each way, so I'm seriously considering taking a bus.
I tried looking for some reviews on this site for the 2 companies but cannot find anything. Has anyone taken either bus before? Do they have stops in between where I can go to the washroom or stretch my legs? If I'm leaving on Friday at around 4pm, will there be traffic jams? Is the 49 EUR the cheapest ticket price I can get for Munich to Zurich? I checked both bahn.de and sbb.ch and the price is the same.
What are the options for getting from Munich to Salzburg ??
What is interesting to see inbetween ??
They aren't Bayern Munchen, so i'm guessing that it is easier to get tickets for a match to see 1860 Munchen play? I'd like to go watch a game when I am in Munich. I already have the fixture list. Now I just need to find out how to get tickets? Can you buy them at the gate on the day of the game? Do 1860 Munchen still play their home matches in the Allianz Arena?
Thank you in advance!l!
Hi any feedback on holiday inn city center?
Some one wrote ghastly monistray?
soryy I meant lufthanza airport buses not air france
hi can u tell me about hotels that can be reached directly from airport by air france bus
I see that Munich is expensive.
Any suggestions as to a nice, clean well located hotel a a reasonable price? Hopefully $100-150. Also willing to entertain something on the outskirts. But since I'm not familiar at all w/ the area - is the commute into the ity difficult? Or a long haul? We'd rather not waste alot of time commuting.
Altho we do plan to go to Dachau & Ludwig & the "sleeping beauty" castle, so perhaps something closer to there -- but I have no concept of really how far that is & what kind of commute it would be.
Please advise. Thanks!
Hi i want advise about a hotel in munich :
1-not necessary in center
2-easy to reach by public transport direct from airport
&easy to use bus or train to center
3-3-4* or descent accomodation
Thank u for ur reply
I will arrive at Munchen Airport at 22 p.m. and will rent a car. Then I must wait for another person, perhaps, until 00.
Does anybody know if there is any free parking or any place to park in the airport or near the airport? And in the zone of Allianz Arena is safe?
Could someone tell me which borough/neighborhood this address is in? Prinzregentenstrasse 93, 81677 Munich. I've looked on a number of maps, but just aren't having any luck. i was sure one of you here would know! Thanks in advance!
We are flying into Strauss airport in Munich and spending half a day in the city of Munich. We will take the train from the airport to the station nearest the museum. We will need to store our luggage at the train station; is that possible? Then we want to take the train from that same station to Murnau. Will that plan work?
I'm debating whether I should just go for the reclining seat for the overnight trip or suck it up and pay €20 more for a 6 person couchette... I have never been on the trains in Europe, but have taken an amtrak train in the US overnight for 13 hours and the reclining seat was not an issue for me. I do plan to go to Oktoberfest on the Saturday I arrive, so I'm wondering if I'll get better sleep and be more rested with a couchette or if I'm better off saving my money for beer. Any advice would be great! Thanks :)
I am planning a trip with my mom to Vienna (3 nights - 5-8 Sept), Salzbug (1 night - 9 Sept) and Munich (4 nights - 10-13 Sept). I have a rough idea of what I am doing on these days, in these places. I need some recommendation on train tickets. I did some research online & concluded the below:
Vienna to Salzburg - take the Westbahn on the day of travel, which is slightly expensive than OBB (25 vs 19) however, OBB is also showing (online) as Eur 49 for both me & my mom? we are in Salzburg for a day only, hence would like to make the most of it.
Salzburg to Munich - was adviced to take regional train, whose prices don't change if you are buying in advance or same day.
My question - should I buy tickets online? I know what dates I want to travel.
Hi travellers, how can i go to Prag from Munichen?which way is better, bus or train? And on db,isn't showing prices. Is it possible to take tickets online?
Asking around for a a shuttle service to our hotel in Alstadt/Lehel. By this I mean, a shuttle that is shared with other passengers, not a private taxi - this usually makes it a lot cheaper than a taxi.
Many people I ask keep directing me to buses and the train, but I need transport that picks up and drops off as very close to the hotel as possible, and trains/buses require several minutes of walking or standing, which we must avoid.
Any trusted and easy to use companies that do this?
Meeting someone at Munich airport and will not be able to call each other, just going the old fashioned way and say "Lets meet at_______ in front of the _________" or "right outside the _______"
Is anyone here familiar enough with Munich airport to advise?
I am not familiar with that airport at all and dont know what the best area could be.
What concerns me is that one of us is flying internationally, the other is flying within Europe, so dont know if we both would have access to all areas.
Thanks for the help.
