Hi, We are planning a trip to Dubai, but would like to stop in Amman, in order to visit Petra. My question is, how much is the traveling time , what is the best way to get to Petra from Amman , and if a day trip will be sufficient . Also we are planning to go in early February , is this a good time? Your help will be appreciated.

I'm a lone female of 73 and have wanted to visit Petra all my life. Now I have the wherewithall to arrange my 'dream' tour I look at all these postings and fret that I may not be up to the long walk in the sun to see the sights, I am not disabled but just a bit lacking in stamina these days. I really do not like the donkey and camel rides offered in the Middle East, the animals look emaciated and flea-ridden and seem to be very badly treated. At first I had intended to spend a whole week in Petra but it would seem a couple of days would be enough - is it possible to add a Petra visit onto another tour of (say) Israel or Jordan? I know we don't have advertising on here but can anyone recommend a good tour compant I could contack from UK?
Hi Visiting Jordan for a week at the end of May, and am going to stay at Petra for two nights. Can anyone tell me if there is any bus or coach that leaves Petra for Aqaba in the morning, I know Jett run a service in the afternoon but I would like to leave early morning, spend the day in Aqaba, before taking the Jett bus to Amman in the afternoon/evening. I know a taxi is an option but I am trying to keep costs down. Many thanks in advance Tony

The parts I am concerned with is seeing Madaba,Karak and getting to Petra in one day as well as the last day
Hi! In August I will travel from Eilat to Petra. I wonder what kind of transportation are available? Arriving in Petra is there somewhere where I can leave my luggage? A locker for my luggage? I am thinking not sleep in Petra, but in Wadi Rum. Thanks, Orlando
I am visiting Israel in May and want to visit Petra. My idea was to arrive in Eilat from Jerusalem, take the bus to the border, cross over, head up to Petra, and spend the night there, so I can get to the site very early in the morning. I am a middle aged single female traveller, experienced and cautious. What is the best way to get from Aquaba to Petra? Can I get a tour guide at the site or should I arrange it beforehand? Any recommendations of reasonably priced places to stay?
Has anyone used this company for tour of both Petra and Egypt? What is your opinion? I have managed to find two opinions on trip advisor which are polar opposites. Thanks.
Hi guys, We want to visit Wadi rum and stay there for a few quiet days in a (as far as possible) desert atmosphere. However, we prefer a small room, nothing fancy but not sleeping in a tent. Any recommendation for such place ? I've seen some places on the Web but all seems to be very large ones and nothing felt like being far in the desert... Any idea ? Thanks in Advance, Sharon.
I have a 17 hr layover in AMM touching down 9 AM on a Friday and departing 2:10 Am the following morning. I would really like to see Petra, but most day tours leave the hotels at 7:30. Are there any day tours or Petra that leave from or near AMM?
Any agency/guide recommendations for day jeep tour and over night camp in desert?
What is the best way to get there? We are flying in to Cairo from America to see the pyramids and I wanted to take a quick trip to Jordan to see the Dead Sea. What is the easiest and least expensive way to go?
I arrive in Amman the evening of 2 November, and would like to travel to Petra early on the 3rd, and return on the 4th. I could take the Jett bus there and back, and schedule my own hotel for the night, but is that the best approach? I have not found 2 days tours. If I do my own scheduling, is it hard getting around Petra once there? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Cheers
Is there a way to book a carriage to Petra in advance?

I then relocate to a remote archaeological site with limited access to water and bathing facilities and washing my hair. Can anybody recommend a hairdresser in Wadi Musa?

I have pre-booked some accommodation for 3 nights Wadi Musa and 1 night Dead Sea and would like to find out if these are realistic. Day 1 - evening arrive at Wadi Musa, check in to hotel near Petra. Day 2 - explore Petra overnight Wadi Musa Day 3 - explore Petra overnight Wadi Musa Day 4 - day trip to Wadi Rum, then drive to Dead Sea, overnight Dead Sea How many hours is drive from Wadi Rum to Dead Sea? Is the above do-able? (I read that it is 4-5 hours, not sure if that is the case, my concern is that if I arrive too late at Dead Sea will not get to really rest and relax at the resort) IF I have to choose the following, which would be advisable? - 2 days Petra OR - 1 day Petra and 1 day Wadi Rum THANK YOU!
We want to travel from Petra to Jerusalem on a Friday. My thoughts were to take a bus to Aqaba early. Cross the boarder to Eilat and take the Egged bus to Jerusalem from there. However the Egged bus connection is showing no service on Friday at the moment. Is this true and if so what other alternatives do we have?
I am working in Jordan (Amman) for 5 days and really want to fit in 1 day to visit Petra (I wish that I had longer). The only free day will be Friday Oct 1st. What is the best way to travel from/and return to Amman and fit in seeing the best of Petra in such a short space of time? Many thanks.
