I would like to visit the hanging gardens of babylon site in May 2010. Has anyone been there recently?
Thank you for putting a smile on my face. (I'm assuming this is a joke as the Hanging Gardens were destroyed over 2000 years ago)

No it isn't a joke. I guess I should have said the hanging gardens site. I want to visiti all seven site next Summer. I have made arrangements for the other 6 site of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and was seeing if it was possible to t see the Hanging Gardersn site.

1) This is Iraq. Iraq is not a tourist destination ! You'd risk your life to come. 2) Historians aren't even sure that the hanging gardens ever existed or if they were just a myth. While you're sure to get a savy travel agency to take you anywhere, it would essentially be a scam. You can just as easily go to eastern Syria and pretend that the site was there.

u may have meant the ancient city of babylon? agree with george above. location of the hanging gardens of babylon is not certain, historians & archeologists would only estimate it as near the euphrates river. the ancient city of babylon is in al-hillah, which again became famous because of the setting-up of us military camp during the 2003 iraq invasion or iraq war, though allegedly peaceful nowadays, still scores of bomb attacks that killed hundreds have been reported in 2007. as reported, the archeo-site of the ancient city is open for tourism. tough task uv drafted, but the other sites in your list are totally ok, esp. the pyramid of giza which is the only one surviving til date. be safe and have fun!

Yeah I spent a year in the Babil province and just got back, your out of your mind. My advise, take a mine detector and an up-armored vehicle with and anti-aircraft gun mounted on it.
