can we drive from Samburu to Marsabit, Chalbi and Sibiloi? is it passable? safe? I have my own Land Rover
Hello,
We are two French guys 23 and 25 (best friend), technician and MSc student both working in conservation. We are planning to visit the Mara, more particularly the mara triangle, from the 23th to the 27th but for economic reason we would like to share the rent of vehicle for this trip . Our goal is to spend our time exploring the reserve, doing nice pictures. We must admit we're not o birding but of course if we see beeeater, roler, and raptor we will make a spot. One of us has 5 years experience in Kenya and have been serveral time in this place. I guess it will be possible to stop to meet masai on our way back if you wish but masai settlement near the gate are just for tourists with expensive price (we wont share the cost of the show).
We are planning to be selfcattered and camping at the Oloololo campisite where there is shower and toilet, it's the first who arrived who has the place, so we were planning early departure from Nairobi.
No care rental have been planned yet, we are open to any proposition...
Yours faithfully
Is it specific or will a South Africa one work okay for visitors travelling from Scotland ?
We want to avoid traveling with a large amount of US$. I there a way to electronically transfer cash to ourselves and receive it in Nairobi.

Hello Vt’ers
We (my wife and I) are planning to go to Kenya and Zanzibar at the End of June please can you send an itinerary for 11 days; we want to go to see the Masai-Mara and ideally see the big 5 on Safari. And spend a day or 2 Nairobi as well.
I would like to get a reputed local tour company KATO approved to avoid the expensive packages the British/European tour operators offer. Weather wise is this a good time to visit?
What we would like to include a few safaris (spend a few days in the wilderness), to meet local indigenous people, visit local food markets, local restaurants. See some cultural places & sites.
Would you recommend Zanzibar as well? Thanks
ER
Some years ago I heard that it would be a good idea to bring ballpoint pens to Kenya - for the schoolchildren and maybe as something to trade when haggling. Is that still so?
Better ideas?
My friend and I are going to Kenya & Tanzania later this year. We are flying to Nairobi & making our way to Zanzibar. We have 15 days & are figuring out how best to split our time. I would like maybe 2-3 days in Nairobi. Where else in Kenya is a must? What is the best way to get into Tanzania? How long should we spend in Massi Mara? Between Serengeti, Ngorogoro & Arusha what is best? And from any of the above places what is the best way to make it to Zanzibar & should we spend time in Dar es Salaam?
