Bars in Central Moscow

I am visiting Moscow very soon for the first time with my girlfriend. We're staying in Peter I hotel on Neglinnaya Street. On an evening, can you name some decent bars to chill out and have a few drinks in. The location of these would be nice to know too, so that I can locate them on my map. Obviously, they need to be in walking distance of the hotel/red sqaure. We'd like to try a variety of bars but not nightclubs. Also any insider information to aid our locating them once we're in Moscow - e.g. next to the bank with a red neon sign, or just opposite the ??????? metro station, but you need to go down some steps... Thanks!
