Hi all, My boyfriend and I are planning on traveling to Montreal in late August. We are newbies to the area and my boyfriend prefers to do stuff that's more off the beaten path, while I prefer to see the sights. Any suggestions on what to do? I realize that we are both going to do some compromising. We plan on being there maybe three or four days tops.
i think you guys will really enjoy Mtl. For sure you have to check out Old Montreal. Great place to just troll in a very French, Euoropean style atmosphere. Coble stone roads, shops, artists sitting on the side of the streets and there are no cars as its pedestrian only - well not all but alot of it. take a horse buggy trip, check out the cirque du soleil setup have something to eat. In Mtl there are other things the Bio Sphere, the large cathedral which you can walk to from old montreal google: Basilique Notre-Dame de Montréal. i dont know how many days you are there but from there i would really suggest the 2 hour or so gorgeous drive up to Mount Tremblant. You can find great deals on accomodations at easy rez.com google it... good thing is there is a whole pedestrian village, similar to whistler in BC if you have been. You can walk around great shopping, shows, gondola rides and lots of off the beaten path to do for the BF....good luck and enjoy
