Am thinking about booking this hotel. It is also a training centre for tourism students. There are no reviews about this property. Would appreciate any feed back regarding the property. Apparently there are many of these Kopling training schools throughout South America.
Greetings fellow VTs, I'll be in Montevideo December 3rd (Sunday) through December 5th, (Tuesday) before heading off to Buenos Aries for 2 days. What are must see or do(s) while in your city? I'm thinking of renting a car and driving to Punta del estes for beach time Sunday......I hear the beaches are great in this area. I want to practice Tango dancing while I'm there as well. Any ideas or help is greatly appreciated. Tony
Where can I buy a sleeping bag in Montevideo?
We are on a cruise and only have from 10am to 5pm to see what is important to see in Montevideo. Can we get a van or taxi and do a city tour and then what should we include in this tour? Is the Colonia Del Sacramento worth the 2 hour drive to go and see?
Any suggestions for a 45 year old male who will be visiting Montevideo alone, staying in Pocitos, and will probably be walking along the Rambla alone quite a bit, even late at night?
Is it hard to be a tourist in Uruguay without being able to speak Spanish? Are there any places in Montevideo, Colonia del Sacramento or other cities where one would be likely to meet English-speaking travelers and locals?

Hi there. What buses can i get from the airport to the city center (Plaza Independenzia, Av. 9 Julio)? Where to get? Costs and scheudle? (i'll arrive around 21.00). Thanks in advance Pedro
I've read all postings here, and with over 100 VT members living in Montevideo, I was surprised to only see Plaza de Independencia. It's quite an old city of over 1 mln population and I am sure there is more to it than Plaza de Independencia. My request to local people - please give me a list of YOUR favorites - museums, theatres, restaurants, areas of the city. I am visiting coming January and I would appreciate any advice from locals (yes, I am reading and researching) This is the beauty of VT - one can ask for advice of LOCALS. Thank you all in advance!
Hi All: Am getting ready for my next adventure and, as always, need your help in detail. I live in Los Angeles, CA and am going to Buenos Aires for a few days, from there I am going to Montevideo (by boat, buquebus, or whatever - THIS IS MY QUESTION, later) will spend about a week in Uruguay and for my flight back to the US will go back from Montevideo to Buenos Aires. Will need your advice on what is the best and least expensive way to go from Buenos to Monte and days later from Monte to Buenos. Any websites for local transport, any average in the US dollars? Thank you all in advance.
Hi, What is the best way to get from the airport to Punta Carettas? I understand that airport cabs are expensive, but how much approximately are we talking about if you hop in an airport cab rather than calling one to pick you up?? I have a fair amount of luggage so walking any great distance to bus terminals is probably not a great idea for me. Thanks
Hi, I'm planning to go to Montevideo this summer, and I'm looking for some clubs to go there, I'll be staying for quite a while. If you know where to go to have a great night please let me know, and it is possible to give GPS coordinates for the location, cause I'll rent a car with the navigator. Thanks in advance.
How can I buy a ticket to go on a hydrofoil (the quick way) to Buenos Aires? I arrive at the airport in Montevideo. But I would like to go from the airport to the buquebus or ferry tp go straight to Buenos Aires. My flier miles gave me a trip to Montevideo. Can I do that? Do I take a taxi from the airport to the port? How much does that cost? Can I get a ticket on the boat in advance? How many hours is the quick boat? I look forward to your response

Hi there! I'll be in Uruguay next month and I wonder if it is possible to see or stay in an estancia, starting from Montevideo or Cordoba (not really luxurious, expensive etc). Could be possible on a day trip or stay the night. But I' ll travel by public transport so cannot just drive there -much better if being near easy access with bus, or they pick up, or take a guided tour ex these 2 cities, or...? Any idea for where to look, feasibility, cost, would be really great! many thanks Nikos

I am taking a break from 2 weeks in BA the first of November and want to spend a couple of days in Montevideo. Am having trouble finding info. about bars, resturants, cafes, etc. that are gay or gay-friendly....although if they don't open until 2AM I probably won't cross their door! Also is the easiest way to travel there by Buquebus's ferry? Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi I have had a look at Buquebus and Colonia express sites and cant clearly work out if I can do following 1. Fast Ferry - Bus BA to Montevideo --- no problem on both sites 2. Bus from Montevideo - early morning to Colonia and then evening fast ferry back to BA. - not sure if I can do this - if you take a particular bus from MV to Colonia are you tied to next ferry. Clearly I could take any bus from Montevideo by any company and just buy ferry ticket from Colonia to BA. What Im hoping to do is take advantage of Colonia express returns which may let me do the lot for165 .. one way tickets seem much more costly. Not sure if i have explained this well but lets see what people think ? Thank you in advance Albert
We are looking for a driver/guide for a 1/2 day tour of Montevideo and the surrounding area. We will be either two people or a group of 6-8. If you can recommend one, please help. Thanks in advance, Bob & Patty
