Hi. I am planning for a trip to Costa Rica for next year. What would be the ideal number of nights for the Monteverde/Arenal Area?
Have u been there Pedmar? I dont generally work with US companies if it can be avoided as they jump up the prices. Looking to hear from people who have been there.

It all depends on your interest. If you like rafting and other rain forest sports like that I would say around 4 days, but if you interested only Arenal vulcano 1 day is enough. It is a beautiful area though.

I am thinking 2 nights Arenal and 3 at Monteverde. The hanging bridges, bird walks, etc.

Roamer....I was there in December and did three nights in Arenal and two nights in Monteverde which I think is about right. Arenal Observatory Lodge was where I stayed and it was a little pricy ($100) but it was a great spot and had a great deck with a view of the volcano and lava rocks tumbling down at night. I have a neat little place in Monteverde that we found if you need it -40 a night for a two bedroom cottage including breakfast.

Agree, Arenal Observatory Lodge worth the price for sure...
