change location

Monterey to Lake Tahoe

Looking to see if I should drive back to San fran and go east to Lake Tahoe...or is there a better/quicker/more scenic route Or even stop somewhaere scenic/quaint halfway??? Any suggestions??

    Hi Tom, Back to SF would be the long way. I would go 1 to 56 to 101 to 680 to 580 to 5 to .... East Lake Tahoe? Specifically where? Most people think of North and South Lake. So you want to take 50 into Lake Tahoe?
