I plan to visit the Monterey Bay area in a week or so. Can you offer any suggestions as to where one might find the best hiking trails, preferably those offering unobstructed views of Monterey Bay? A 5 to 8 mile round trip is really what I had in mind, but I'm open to shorter trail.
Point Lobos State Reserve, just 2 miles south of Carmel on Hwy 1. There are about 10 different trails there that are AMAZING!!!! I would recommend them all, especically since each one is about .5-1 mile anyway! Very easy....but the best views of Monterey bay! Have fun! Let me know if you need any other advice! :)

Hi, the areas around Pacific Grove and south carmel towards Pt. Lobos offer lovely walking and scenery. Enjoy! OH and If you want to go up into the mts. Head towards The carmel Mission. Not the one out side of the town, rather the one run by Monks. Its south on the PCH before big sur. Really beautiful. (sorry I can't remember the name!)
