    • June 24--St. Giovanni Day

      Florence May 6, 2013 at 9:05 PM

I am planning a dinner at a restaurant in City Center Firenze with a group of friends on June 24. Some people have written back saying that June 24 is Saint Giovanni Day in Firenze. Is there anything I should know about that day in Firenze? Would it be a problem to go into City Center that evening?

      Thank you in advance.

Best location to pick up rental car in Florence

      Florence May 9, 2013 at 12:54 PM

We are arriving in Florence by train (SMN station) and need to pick up a car to drive to our rented villa in Tuscany. I remember getting a car in Florence before (but can't remember the pick up location) that was not too far from the Autostrada toward Siena.

We need to reserve our car with Europcar, but don't know the best location to avoid the ZTL.

Also EuropCar has a mid-size car Alfa Giulietta (or similar) they say will seat 5 people. We have 4 adults traveling together: In past travels to Italy it was just my husband and me and we had plenty of room. Does anyone have experience with a mid-size car with Europcar?

Thank you in advance for your response.

    • Cities in Tuscany besides Florence

      Tuscany Apr 20, 2013 at 1:33 PM

We are spending days in Florence at the end of June and will have a car. We have a few additional days. A couple of questions - do we need hotel reservations or can we play it by ear that time of year? Should we pick towns in advance or decide as we go? Do you have strong feelings on particular cities? Thank you.

I will be in Lucca in early July. I would like to make a day trip to Montecatini Termi to see the town and to enjoy a spa treatment. Can you book in advance? Does anyone know where? Is it a mistake to go just for a day or should I try to spend the night? If so, where? Thanks!

    • Hotel Lazzerini and Music Festivals

by sospiri Online Now Jun 16, 2011 at 12:02 PM

Hi, Has anyone heard any good or bad reports of Hotel Lazzerini? I'm about to book a four night stay and can't find any reviews anywhere. It looks good and sounds good value, but it is nice to be assured! I gather that there are music festivals/concerts in the vicinity. Is there likely to be anything on during the first half of September please? Many thanks for any replies. Maurice (North East Crete)

Can anyone advise me where is the bus station in montecatini? I want to travel to Rome after my stay in Montecatini. It was suggested to me that the bus would be a lot easier than trying to transfer trains and lugging my suitcases, etc. I have been unsuccessful in securing this info on line. Please help me get to Rome from Montecatini. By the way, we are staying at the Grand Vittoria Hotel. Thanks. Angela

Hello! I am thinking of going to Montecatini Terme, I have heard it was beautiful. I love to swim, and I wanted to know, can you swim in the thermal waters, or are they just for drinking? And if you can swim, are there any particularly large or beautiful swimming pools? Where? Thank you in advance! -Appia
