    • Marriage Proposal

      Monaco May 6, 2013 at 9:20 AM

Hi, I will be going to Monaco for the F1 weekend but want to take my partner up into the hills at dusk and ask her to marry me. My question is where can I get a good view to overlook Monaco at night, Ideally I would like it to be romantic and somewhere we could get to sit and admire the views and not through bushes or a fence. Any help is greatly appreciated.

During the Monaco Grand Prix weekend I am going to be in Genoa Italy. I wonder if it is possible to drive to Monte Carlo Sunday 26th early morning to watch the Grand Prix. I am not looking for an overlooked seat or terrace just being there is is enough for me. Thanks

    • Can I use my Visa Card in most places in Monte Carlo?

by jf77 Online Now Jul 5, 2011 at 8:35 AM

I am going to Monte Carlo on business in a couple weeks. I have previously visited Paris and the north of France, but I was visiting people at that time, so they helped me out with customs, currency, etc. This time I am on my own, so I am doing my best to be prepared. I have been doing extensive reading, but have not been able to answer a couple practical questions; so I am hoping someone here can give me a couple tips. 1. I understand Monaco is expensive. So, I am trying to determine just how much Euro I will need to have on hand. I guess my first question is, do most of the shops and cafe's accept a Visa card? If so, that will alleviate my concerns significantly. 2. Are there ATM machines that will dispense Euro's from my Visa? I remember in Paris many years ago using ATMs with my Visa to get francs. If such ATMs exist, do they have an English option? 3. Finally, in the absence of an ATM, are there local banks that will give me Euro against my Visa card? Thank you so much in advance.

Since this tip was posted in 2008, we wondered if it is still operating? Also, is it hop-on/hop-off? Are tickets bought on the train or elsewhere? How much are the tickets? Are they good all day? What are the operating hours? Is there a website for this attraction? Thanks.

      An evening in Monte Carlo

by clmbsb Online Now Dec 12, 2010 at 5:10 AM

Hi everyone. I have booked to go back to the Monte Carlo Masters Tennis tournament next April. Unlike the last time i visited back in 2009 i am leaving myself with some time to actually see Monte Carlo. I am staying in Nice to cut costs and will get the train to Monte Carlo the day i arrive. Due to flight times i will only arrive in Monte Carlo around 5pm and leave at 10pm on the last train back to Nice. I want to wander down to the harbour. Now i understand that Monte Carlo is hilly, is the walk to harbour downhill from the train station? What is the best/easiest way to get there? From here i plan to walk to the Casino/Hotel de Paris then onto the Mirabeau/Loews hairpin corners (F1 fan too). This may sound a silly question but what time will the sun set in mid April, just so i know what kind of photos i can take. I would love to catch the sun setting across the harbour. Are there any places for a cheap drink that is not too far out of the way from the casino? Many thanks for any advice you can give me. Clare

    • Strange question about a Monte Carlo street

by chloegovan Online Now Oct 17, 2009 at 6:15 AM

Hi, I'm trying to locate a place I've seen in a guidebook. There is a statue of four red letters that spell out the word "Love". There's nothing written to identify the place except that there is a Credit Lyonnaise bank next to it which is also shown in the picture. The book is from 2006 so I'm trying to figure out whether the sign is still standing and if so what street it is on. If there is a resident or recent visitor who knows what i'm talking about, I'd really appreciate your response. Best wishes Chloe

      Helicopter transfer to Nice Airport

Hi guys, My boyfriend and I would like to take a one way helicopter transfer from Monte Carlo to Nice Airport in August. The cost per person on the Heli Air Monaco website is €99.00 per person. However, some other websites quote €69.00 as a guide. Any suggestions on how to book the cheapest option? I don't want to leave it until I'm in Monte Carlo as last time I was there it was fully booked. Thanks in advance! Hayley :)

    • Grand Prix for novices

by Vivyen Online Now May 12, 2008 at 1:30 AM

Hi everyone We are staying in Nice, by coincidence at same time as Monaco Grand Prix. We want to spend a day in Monte Carlo,by public transport, visiting Oceanarium etc, and thought it would be fun, never having seen a Grand Prix before to visit on the Thursday, the practice day, just to get a flavour of it, before all the crowds arrive. Is this a good idea, if so, how best to see what's going on at minimal expense, eg which hotel to lunch at, and should we book? Or should we make sure to visit Monte Carlo earlier in the week, and skip any idea of the Grand Prix? MERCI!

I don't want to have to lug a paid of dress shoes around for 6 weeks when I am only going to wear them once... So my question is: Will I get into the main part of the Casino wearing: Suit Jacket Shirt Tie Jeans Semi casual shoes Help!!!!!

by enlehman76 Online Now Sep 11, 2007 at 4:22 PM

My husband and I are staying in Monte Carlo for 3 nights and 2 full days. We want to explore the coast (Cannes, Nice, Eze, Menton) and have been told by friends to rent a car vs taking trains, etc. We are flying in to Nice airport around 9pm and were going to rent a car at the airport and drive to Monte Carlo so that we have the car for the next 2 days of our trip. Is it safe to drive from the airport to Monte Carlo at night? Also, our flight out is at 7:45am and we were debating whether or not to return the car to the airport that morning or drop it in Monte Carlo the day before? Is the Nice airport really busy where it would take alot of time to drop the car off----woud it be better to take a taxi back? Thanks!

transportation from Villefranche (port) to the casino

Does anyone know if taxis or shuttle buses are available to drive from the port, Villefranche to the Grand Casino? We are taking the Disney cruise ship in July and Disney wants100 per person to drive to and from the casino for an evening of gambling. This seemed kind of high. It is a 45 minute drive each way so I was wondering if anyone knows of any other methods to get to the Grand Casino that would cost less. Thanks
