Different bus from Amerigo Vespucci (airport) to Santa Maria Novella (train station)

      Florence 4 hours ago

I understand there is a bus named Volainbus that shuttles from the airport to the Florence train station every 1/2 hour for 6 euros one way. 1st question, how long is the 10 euro round trip ticket good after you validate it? 2nd question, is there a city bus that takes the same route for less? We went to Florence by train from Rome 2 years ago, so we are not familiar with the airport.

Hi guys! Im organising a group of young Irish Art and Law students to visit Florence for a week. Does anyone know of great clubs and pubs? They're interested in meeting Italiens and other travelers. Good drink deals, music and anything else! Or if there are any evening shows or performances on that would also be superb. Also if anyone knows of cheap but delicious restaurants that would be great, thanks!

I were advised by friends to stay away from hotels which are near to the train stations in Italy, for the reason that most of the area are mostly the glitzy part of town. It is not suitable area for family.

Just to confirmed and to ask for other traveller's observations. Have you observed the part of neighbourhood in which the hotel is in ?

Is Hotel Bonaficio and Hotel Donatello in the such area ?

      Thanks so much for inputs

What would your recommendations be for a day trip from Florence? I had originally considered Siena. However, others have suggested Pisa/Lucca or even Cinque Terre. We will be in Italy in April, so I do not know if the weather would be a factor for Cinque Terre.

      Getting to Sant'Antimo

by SandiM Online Now Mar 7, 2010 at 7:54 PM

2 females, 42 & 73 (both car-less), taking a bus from Pienza to Montalcino in hopes of visiting Sant'Antimo in the morning. Can someone suggest a way to get to the Abbey without taking a car? I know of 2 buses to the abbey, but they leave at 710am and then not until 145pm. Our bus from Pienza drops us off around 730am, so we'll miss the first bus and I'm planning to photograph the interior of the Abbey in the morning, with the light streaming in so the 145pm bus won't do. Are there taxis to hire? Or is it possible to hitch a ride? I don't think my mother can handle a walk, if it's very far or very hilly. Suggestions?

      Hi,
We are taking a train from Rome Termini to Chiusi. From there we would like to go to Montalcino then possibly to Siena. If we go to Siena we would take a train directly back to Rome.
I am having difficulty figuring out how to get from Chiusi to Montalcino by either train/bus?

    • Buses from Rome to Montalcino??

by tearose214 Online Now Sep 6, 2006 at 9:00 AM

I'm trying to figure out the easiest and quickest way to get from Rome to Montalcino without a car. The train seems inconvenient since it requires switching in three different towns (Chiusi, Siena, Buonconvento). I am wondering if there is a direct bus option from Rome, how often it leaves, and how long it takes, or alternately, whether there are buses that go from the train station at Chiusi directly to Montalcino. Would appreciate your advice!
