I don't know about breakfast but on Sunday Osteria al Giardino is open for lunch and dinner and is an excellent restaurant in a lovely setting. You can check it at ristoranteosteriadelgiardino...

We love it and the owner and family are very friendly. Enjoy your stay in Montalcino.

In Italy restaurants *outside the hotels* are never opened for breakfast.

However . . . most bars will serve an adequate breakfast and they have great coffee and fabulous hot chocolate.

Yes many bar will serve also cappucino.:)
    but the link
    ristoranteosteriadelgiardino...
is wrong, it a restaurant at Mortara which close to Pavia, north Italy.

anyway the OSTERIA AL GIARDINO is also there, in Montalcino at #1, Piazza Cavour. phone: 0577849076

be careful at Brunello, I'm not mean the wine itself, but the cost, you can get bottles of Brunello for 20 euros but there are also bottles of 500 or 1000 euros each!!

Good catch cgf. We loved the restaurant but the only web site I could find called it "pricey" and it definitely was no more pricey than any other place in the area. We do not eat in pricey restaurants. So . . . I grabbed the next web site that appeared and didn't check the town. Sorry.

If you go to the following web site and scroll down, there is a brief description of the restaurant and an e-mail link. We ate there at noon so didn't need reservations. In the evening, it might be a good idea.
