I need to get from Bayeux to Mont St Michel. Is there public transportation? Would renting a car and driving be doable? thanks -
There is an early train from Bayeux at 7h31 that gets to Pontorson at 9h15. The problem is the Pontorson station is still some 10 kms from the Mont. There is another solution by shuttle but you'd have to check this out yourself, run by the Hotel Churchill in Bayeux. I don't know if you have to be a client of the hotel or not but here's the website : http://www.hotel-churchill.fr/ I just had a look at the site and it says 58€ for a return trip and gives you 3 hours at MSM. The site can be put into English if necessary. Might though be worth your while just renting a car and have all the time you want.

Both of my visits to Mont St Michel have been from Bayeux or very nearby, both times I have had a hire car and it is very handy, easily there and back in a day, also one time went onto St Malo. Also very handy should you want to visit anything else nearby Regards Thommmo
