Try La Mere Poularde right in the center of the "the rock." The rooms are adequate and the views are spectacular. A few years ago the rooms were in the 100 euro price range - not too bad considering the great location.

Here is the deal. Mont Saint Michel is one of the most visited places in France. We took the TGV from Paris to St. Malo and stayed at a wonderful B & B who incidentally turned us on to a Hotel in the 5th in Paris where we have now stayed 5 different times. Then we drove the D Day beaches and ended up at Mont Saint Michel. La Mere Poularde is THE place to stay. Get into it. Get the best room with the view of the bay. Now just about everyone you ever heard of has had Madam's Omelette des fines herbs. First go into the kitchen area and watch the chef whipping the dozen eggs in a copper bowl. You will be hypnotized by the sound of the whisk. If you are on a budget dont go in and order lobster or steak...get the darned omelette like the queen does and like the beatles did and enjoy. The more you speak french, no matter how bad, the better your service will be. We are always amazed at how rude we americans are when we travel. Be cool. Get into the spirit of france. appreciate a different culture. We arrived shortly after 420 pm and had a wonderful time and made many new friends.

Oh, and when you get back to Paris, go down to Pont Neuf at 9 pm with a bottle of wine and take the Vedettes de Pont Neuf for the hour ride down the Seine to the Eiffel Tower and back and enjoy the sites and monuments from the water with huge lights shining up from your bateaux. (personally, I believe the Bateaux Mouches 4 hour dinner cruises are like being locked in a closet)After that go down to the Brasserie by Isle St. Louis for the best cassoulet going then back to your Hotel de l'Esperance for a night of .....
