Need help visiting Mont-St-Michel

by nls98 Online Now Aug 17, 2007 at 5:40 PM

My wife and I will be taking a day trip to Mont-St-Michel on our way to the D-Day beaches. I checked the SNCF website and we can take a train to Rennes from Paris. We then take a bus from Rennes to Mont-St-Michel (I think it is a bus - it says "coach" but it is via the SNCF site). I have two questions:

1. Will there be lockers or storage at the Rennes train station? We will have our baggage with us.

2. How close does the bus get us to the abbey? Will it go up the causeway?

Thanks.

Causeway and how close to the abbey are two different places. The abbey is a walk up the mont, past the tourist places, restaurants, etc. The buses stop pretty close to the base of the mont.

And quite a climb it is, from the entrance of the town up to the abbey!

    For luggage, see:

I didn't find the info myself on www.voyages-sncf.com but I guess you can go with the advice given on above link.
