It is a longer drive than it looks on the map. If you use mappy.com, it would probably give you a good idea on the amount of time it takes to get from Caen and stop at Utah Beach. The road on the coast as follows the various landing beaches is very slow. In the little towns (and there are are bunch) you are at 20 MPH. Between towns, maybe 35. We drove from Bayeau on the highway straight to Mont. St. Michel and it seemed to take forever. By the time we got there we stopped for 1/2 and hour, and then had to head back to Caens for our train back to Paris. Karl
